As an update, here's the work order/bill.

It's working as designed now. The one interesting thing... I now have more power in 6th gear when on the interstate. Either that previous clutch was burning up, or they reflashed the PCM. In any case, I'm happy now :)

It gets better. The second clutch also took a dump 600 miles later. They once again replaced the slave cylinder. We'll see how long this one lasts.

Am I the only one to have issues with this?

I haven't heard of others. If I were them, I'd dig a little deeper. I would imagine the odds are low of two bad slave cylinders. It is possible, but not probable. I can't help but wonder if something else is contributing to their failure. I've got 16k miles on mine now and it feels the same as it was when new.

Hang in there! If the 2nd one goes belly up, I'd say it is time for an entirely new transmission, which would surely cure the problem.

The dealer said "We've had a few others, apparently a bad batch". A little suspicious but not impossible.

Both times the slave cylinder failed when it was "colder". (just below freezing in SC, that's called cold around these parts! :) ).

Not sure how the transmission is to blame in this, unless the input shaft is out of round.

Certainly a bad batch is a possibility, but what are the odds that your new production unit came from the same batch as the replacement? I'd check serial numbers. If close, then that would make it actually a high probability. If not, then unless Jeep has data, I'd be doubtful.

I'm quite doubtful too, needless to say. No sure what else could go wrong.

was an ā€˜18 Rubicon Mojito! now a boring Mazda
2018 JLUR with 6-speed manual. Clutch got softer and softer, eventually wouldn't return to the normal position.

Dealer called, the slave cylinder failed. They are replacing: Flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, pilot bushing, and of course, the slave cylinder. I'm guessing the slave cylinder contaminated the clutch with hydraulic fluid.

Iā€™m at 2509 miles. I donā€™t notice it getting softer but Iā€™ll be paying attention after hearing this. Sorry for you

Hopefully thatā€™s it and not something else causing the failure. Maybe it is a bad batch but that seems odd.

Let us know

300 more miles, so far so good. Last time it failed when it was "cold" (relative term in SC, but it was below freezing).

This morning I took the Jeep into the Dealer for an oil change and tire rotation. Thirty minutes later the service rep comes out and says the Jeep is not safe to drive due to a burning smell suspected to be the clutch. I have never had any smell of burning anything. They provide a rental and I go to the Jeep to grab some stuff and it smelled like the Jeep had been on fire. Never had any issue like that prior to dropping it off. They think it is the clutch and are doing further inspections. This thread is the closest example of my situation I can find. Jeep has 5372 miles on it and this is my third stick shift Jeep. Iā€™ll let you know how it goes.

And... the 3rd one goes out. Similar situation, clutch felt suspect Friday night, it was cold (-ish - this is SC) overnight and the clutch pedal stayed to the floor on Saturday morning.

Well, something else is causing the issue. Obviously something isnā€™t right internally in that trans.

Another note, when I went to the snow and drove around wheeling for a couple hours I noticed a slight grind while shifting into reverse..went away after I came down the mountain. Maybe I was throwing it into gear too fast but I think it was due to the cold.
