I feel like a dumb @ss but figured I would share my experience. I have been dealing with a "clunk" sound in the rear end while turning corners and a loud rattle going over bumps. This has been driving me crazy. It sounded like something was rolling around in the storage area of the JLU. After removing everything in the storage bin and driving around and still hearing it, I started re-torquing the lift in the rear end and removing the spare and replacing etc.

After several days, I had a epiphany of sorts. I decided to check the jack area. Guess what? The jack had come loose out of its perch and was sliding back in forth hitting both sides of the tub. As uneventful as this finding might sound just reading about it, I can tell you it made my day.

Anyway, hopefully this post saves just one person the headache I went through and just goes to prove that sometimes the simpliest things are the ones often overlooked.

Thanks for posting. I have had things like that happen to me. Sometimes it's the simple things.

With this I have to share this story.

when I was a child one of my uncles had a ‘34 Ford Coupe. (sweet ride). He was involved in a street Rod Club and I occasionally had the opportunity to go with him and his family. For those of you that recall the ‘34 Ford coupe, it is not by any means a modern day “Family Vehicle” however the five of us fit in it plus camping equipment for the weekend.

anyway back to my story. My uncle was never known for letting a good practical joke be missed. So a buddy of his had a modified Ford truck with a Cover over the bed. When his buddy was unaware my uncle placed a metal can in a concealed place in the bed of the truck. His buddy drove around for months trying to figure out what the rattle noise was.

then magically one day my uncle removed the can without his buddy knowing. His friend rejoicingly announced that the rattle was gone!!!!

don’t know if he ever found out what the cause was…..:giggle:
Regrettably both of them are gone now. I think back on that every time there is an unknown rattle with one of my vehicles and I always get a smile out of it!!!!!!
