No. The plastic is designed to split when the airbag deploys. If the airbag deploys does the plastic shatter?

Interesting. And here I thought y'all were talking about the top of the dash. That's not so bad.
It kinda feels like a denim material. It doesn’t come across as delicate in person. At the risk of being precise, it’s not really cloth as so much as a synthetic extruded fiber material. I learned this after I sprayed it down with Scotchguard fabric protector to little effect. While it wouldn’t have been my first choice of material, it’s still better than a hard, cold piece of resin plastic.
No it doesn’t. That’s just where they put the label to indicate the dash has an airbag. Look at the post below yours. The airbag comes out of the same location on the new dash. An airbag has to have an unobstructed path to be able to fully deploy. The airbag comes out of the plastic piece beneath the cloth dash.
I doubt the cloth makes much difference since the airbag pops out of the plastic beneath it.

Here’s another pic of the older style dash and where the airbag label is, which is the same location on the new style dash.

Not my Jeep, but as far as the air bag location, I found this image on the internet.
