After every wheeling trip there's always a layer of dirt on my dash. I think a cloth dash would get dirty real quick so that's a hard pass from me.

You can buy the OEM leather one for about $325 online if you want to replace it. I wouldn’t buy the cheap plastic stick on covers off Amazon or eBay. The passenger airbag is under it. Talk about a projectile coming at your passengers face.
How hard is it to replace? Do you think my dealer would do it for me?

The trail dust during the summer locally is insidious….like tan colored flour and that shirt gets on and into everything, We got leather seats to make it easier to clean up dog hair. I can only imagine what a cloth dash would look like covered in trail dust and dog hair. Maybe I’m wrong.
Looks about like this with trail dust.

Hey, for me it's worth it because if they screw it up, they're responsible.
Expect it to be a multi-hour job at the insane hourly rate dealerships charge. Not worth the money, considering the cost of the part. But if you got the cash, go for it.

Like I said, I was wary of it too, but it’s not delicate. It (knock on wood) hasn’t gotten dirty or anything yet and my Jeep is usually pretty messy.

Agree with above comments that dealer would charge a lot. Probably wouldn’t be that hard if you have worked on a Jeep interior before. I haven’t pulled the JL dash apart yet but did numerous times on my JK and it’s pretty straightforward. The piece looks like it’s screwed in underneath of the upper dash and lower dash handle and mounts on top off the airbag ( there is a cutout for the airbag on the back of the piece) so hopefully don’t need to mess with the airbag.

Check YouTube for online vids removing JL dash to get a sense of level of pain.
