Interesting...I disconnected my manual swaybar disconnect at lunch and it still made the noise. I don't think its related to the swaybar...I wonder if the ball joints are not wearing well with the aluminum knuckles causing them to wear out early? Would be pretty bad to have ball joints wearing out with 11k miles on the axle and very little light offroad use.
No clue brother the 2 techs were stumped. They showed me all the re adjusted, tighten ect. Guess once my star case gets answered we may know more lol.

Also for @Rauch...My jeep's steering has also been clicking when turning toward driver at slow speeds like this:

I talked with 2 different local dealers and they won't look at bc it has a 2" lift. It also makes 1 deeper clunk sound at about 75% to lock. I removed the cotter pins and torqued the ball joint nuts to the next rung. It still clicks...I've retorqued the track bar, draglink and tie rod. About to retorque the control arms and shock mounts. I have no idea what it is and it's getting annoying.
All u have listed the Tech did to mine. He even checked calipers ect. He was leaning towards a axel issue or sway bar disconnect. Whatever is causing this issue is repeatable and happens only at low speed and when turning sharp. When they fix it ( lol ya right) I’ll post the fix. FYI my track bar was very lose. One positive thing is I know my steering components are all snug now lol
Your clicking issue sounds VERY similar to mine. After about two months and two different dealers, it was finally diagnosed as a rear flange dust cover that was catching on rotation at the high point. Tech trimmed it but didn’t resolve the click, then ordered a new dust cover and bam. I’ve been click free since March/April. Next time you go in, have them check it out for you.

Thanks alot for the feedback. When turning driver, I hear multiple clicks and 1 pop like something is catching and freeing. I've checked all the wires turning lock to lock and nothing seems to be catching. I dont know what a rear flange dust cover is and googled it and found the part below for a jk. Are you referring to a jl version of this dust shield that fits front and rear differential and on the transfer case output? Or are you referring to a dust shield relsted to the brakes? Did they replace the front differential dust shield flange or the front transfer case dust shield flange or both? Considering the noise is coming from the front, it wouldnt seem related to the rear differential or rear transfer case output. Thanks again. @chevymitchell @rustyshakelford @TTEChris Any thoughts on this?

I’m sorry, my terminology was all off-the exact note from the technician says -

“the condition is coming from the rear pinion flange at rear dif . The dust cover of flange is coming in contact with housing on a rotational high Spot “

The new part ordered was part number 68398370AA and 68393925AA

Interestingly, mine started doing this when I installed 37s so I doubt I’ll get dealer support from this. I plan on upgrading my steering linkage anyway as the OEM stuff is complete shit. I changed the track bar out for metal cloak and can not believe the piece of garbage track bar they put in from the factory. I’ll check the ball joint torque specs and see what that does. My drag link and tie rod both clunk loud when stationary and moving them, which they should rotate slightly but shouldn’t clunk. I have experience with Jeeps, stock and lifted, my LJ didn’t have any of these issues. I’d be more upset if I didn’t plan on upgrading anyway.

I dont think tires or lift is the cause. Mine only started clicking 1k miles ago my Rubi is box stock. My sales manager and friends 2018 rubicon has done it since day 1, his was lifted with 35's. he just recently put it back stock and 33's and it still does it. I drove his around last saturday and its exactly the same sounds, same turn radius same slow speed click. I may break out the mechanics roller and start looking for rub spots myself. I'm debating buying a gopro just to investigate record find ect. It really doesnt bother me cause it does it only on slow tight left or right turns at low speed. I dont want a failed part or whatever is causing this noise to cause damage...

It’s just ironic it started after the larger tires, it maybe I just noticed it then. Only have 1700 miles on her. Regardless, I doubt the dealer would do anything with larger tires and Metal Cloak track bar. It’s not worth the fight. I’ll be interested in hearing everyone’s results in here

My friends 18 did it before his lift and after he put it back stock. Drive shaft or axels is what I’m guessing. Chatvols sounds from his video and how it happens is exactly the way mine does and my friends 18 Rubi. His has 15k mine just a tad over 8100 miles..it’s a odd duck for sure..

Mine clicks as well at low speed when turning. Guess I’ll tighten the ball joints myself. A dealership will be useless. Nothing Jeep Cares can do about it either. If I hadn’t just paid to regear, I would pull the stock front axle and replace it with a Dynatrac. Be rid of that dumbass FAD and aluminum knuckles in one fell swoop.

Just sent a note to Reid Racing. Let’s see if they have a beefy outer knuckle in the works for the JL.
