Ball joints being not torqued to spec is a well known issue, I took mine in months ago and showed they a video a memeber posted along with a link to this site and they did address it as it was documented on my work order and no more clicking and has been fine ever since.

When I had my RC boost done I ask Chris of Tankcustoms while he was doing my lift and tires to check the lower ones and he found them tight so I would go to the service manager if needed or get with Jeepcares here to have them start a case for you
@WranglerMan Thanks for confirming the issue. Can you send me the link to the video, I am going to look again for that video, but if you have a quick link, can you please post the link again. Thanks !

There is a video link from Teghogh (Sep 2018) that I found. Is this the one you are referring to ?

I'm getting a similar click. JL sport s, 3 weeks in ownership, at 700km. While in 4 low( so slow speeds), i get a rapid clicking in my steering column sounds almost electrical in nature, yet at the same time these videos are making me think its this. It happens when i'm turning most often, but impacts to the suspension( coming down off a rock) or a rough trail exacerbate the frequency of it happening. 4 high no noise, 2wheel no noise. It really wigs me out, what if something dies while i am in the bush? Ill be taking mine in this next weekend, as they owe me a a detail.
Mattius, was this pinging / electrical sound ever resolved? I noticed it on mine and it sounds exactly what you experienced. Did tightening the nuts resolve it? Mine only did it in 4 low I think.

My Rubicon just started this today as I left out for work. My Rubi is box stock and has roughly 7k miles. It is repeatable and sounds similar to a car cv joint as it goes bad, not exactly like it. Cause it only does it a few times then stops. Iā€™ll report back what I find out when I take it in for service.

I am also getting the clicking noise when turning...taking it to dealer on Wed. @JeepCares How about taking care of your customers and fixing a design flaw going away from cast iron knuckles?
It's not a design flaw, it's poor assembly at the factory, hey have the torque too low on these nuts. All you need to do is take the cotter pin out, tighten the nut and put the cotter pin back in. Took me 15 mins to fix it and didn't have to bother with the dealer. It's all part of the new model blues, be happy if this is your only issue... I've had the steering bar, tie rod, two front tires and the radiator replaced already.

Did the clicking sound when turning get resolved? Did it sound like inside or outside of the jeep? I know they put a zip tie around the steering column in the factory to hold it in place during install.... When you turn the wheel the end of the zip tie gets caught and will make a clicking sound... If you look under the dash on the drivers side you should be able to see it and cut it off.... If you really wanted as well you can pop the knee blocker trim piece off its just held in by clips to get a better view

Hi all I've been noticing a clicking noise that seems to be coming from the from driver side wheel well only when I turn right.

Unless it also happens when I turn right and I'm just not hearing it.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm probably going to take it into the dealer, feel like something isn't tightened and hoping it's not u joint already going bad.
Mine clicks loud, sounds like in front of dash, on tight right turns only.

Update...

Tech was able to hear this issue. He found some steering items that were loose. He re-torqued everything to spec. Unfortunately it didnā€™t cure mine or change the sound at all. So he opened a star case.
Also Iā€™m curious if this sound is mostly isolated to Rubiconā€™s only?? My salesman has a 2018 Rubicon and his does the exact same thing as mine. FYI his did it from day 1 mine just started this at about 7k miles, now I have 8k. So wonder if itā€™s a few other model wranglerā€™s or just rubiconā€™s??

All u have listed the Tech did to mine. He even checked calipers ect. He was leaning towards a axel issue or sway bar disconnect. Whatever is causing this issue is repeatable and happens only at low speed and when turning sharp. When they fix it ( lol ya right) Iā€™ll post the fix. FYI my track bar was very lose. One positive thing is I know my steering components are all snug now lol

I have a Sport. Mine clicked as well in reverse and in drive at a slow speed. I torqued my upper and lower ball joints to factory spec...which I felt was not nearly enough. I drove it around and they clicked yet again. Removed cotter pins and torqued them down a bit more. No more clicking.

Maybe Jeeps Torque spec is wrong? Iā€™ll tell the tech see what happens.
