Possibly developing the problem i currently have. Look up dana 44 lsd problems. Mine started with a click which turned into clunks and then it got really bad over the course of 2k kms. If you drive up to 25km/hr and take your foot off the gas and wait, do you hear the same noise? Keep the windows up you wont hear with them down.
No LSD here but I do hear the click when I accelerate then let go. It’s like whenever drivetrain changes load you hear it.

Should I tell service about it? What would be their remedy? and what are the long term effects of this? Mine is still very minimal

I’ve taken mine in three times in the last month and they can’t find anything. I park in the garage on level ground and when I put it in reverse in the morning very loud click. Once it warms up no click.

Most likely drive-line slack and backlash in the differential gearing.
But good luck getting a dealer to commit for warranty work though.

If you lifted or modified your Jeep at all, you are going to get some slack in the drive-line one way or another.
Honestly, I have not found a single Jeep that doesn't make all sorts of clicking noises as I shift.

[For everyone else]
If you think your Jeep is a 'unicorn' and doesn't make any noise at all, I'd be more than happy to "test-drive" it and recreate the noise for you. Just to prove a point.

I'm starting to get this driveline click when accelerating from a stop (besides drive and reverse). Like there's a tiny bit of slack down there somewhere. Is this something that will get worse overtime? Should I be worried? I had the same sound on my Mustang and ford changed out both rear half shafts, then the noise went away.
Those don’t exist on the Jeep. The noise is either the parking pawl or the rear diff.

Shift to N, pull parking brake, release foot brake to allow weight to settle on the parking brake, then shift to P.
Shouldn’t have any drivetrain shock when you shift from P when you do this.
That is exactly what I do every single time and for the love of god I cannot understand why more people don’t do this.
I consequently haven’t heard any clicking that so many other members hear.

Hello, have u found the problem?
The clunk when shifting from park to drive or reverse isn't necessarily a problem. It's simply the result of accumulated driveline lash from the transmission gears, driveshaft, and differential gears.

To avoid the clunk, use the emergency brake when parking in a spot that the Jeep can roll in neutral. Once at a complete stop, shift to neutral and pull the brake handle. Let go of the foot brake and let the Jeep settle, before shifting to park. When leaving, shift from park to drive or reverse, and release the emergency brake. If done in that order, there shouldn't be any clunk.

Mine started doing this recently. My driveway is level and the e-brake is fully engaged, but loud clunk every morning going into reverse. Then I never hear it again for the rest of the day. I'm going to try the quick shift to N then to R.

Mine has done this since I bought it. Sometimes what I do is push transfercase lever forward that gets rid of it.

Thanks. That’s been my routine now. Park to neutral then drive or reverse. Weird thing is it does it mostly from Park to Reverse not Park to Drive. Again this is on level ground. I always use the parking brake regardless of grade.
I’m wondering though still what exactly is happening mechanically? Parking pawl or driveline play.
Mine does the same thing...clicks going from park to reverse. It seems most noticeable when I pullout of the garage first thing in the morning (probably high idle). If I stop somewhere and put it in reverse when leaving it doesn’t seem to make that noise.I’ve had other vehicles that made similar sounds

Pretty sure this is not the issue... I've tried every suggestion in this thread and no matter what I do, EVERY COLD start clunks hard now going into reverse. Been getting worse. I now back into my (level) driveway. Only problem now is that eventually I need reverse sometime that day and it will still clunk pretty hard, just not as bad. When I get a chance I'll take a video as I'm sure I'm going to need a dealer visit soon for this. I just dread dealing with them. :(

Btw I have a '20 Willys with 27K miles on it. Driven off-road occasionally, but nothing more than moderate trails. Pretty sure the drivetrain warranty is 5yrs 60K miles? That means I have about 1yr to resolve this!
