Checklist for subwoofer install

Maybe my search skills are lacking but I can’t seems to find a concise post regarding adding a sub to a non premium system. From what I’ve pieced together I think I’ll need:

-sub&enclosure
-amp(mono for now, I’ll swap to a 4 channel when I replace the speakers
-metra amp install kit Jp-18amp-1
-pac ap4-ch41

You've missed the most important part: a quality install.

If it were me, I would do the 4 channel now and add the mono and additional speakers later on.

Food for thought. Rockford Fosgate used to be high on the list of pro quality components but their components have fell drastically in quality over the years. My JL has the factory Alpine which does fine for now. Lots of choices out there; do extra homework on this before buying Rockford Fosgate. I took all the Rockford Fosgate stuff out of my 2019 Slingshot and went with PRV (Made in Brazil) mains and added a db Euphoria 10” sub. Sub is a beast. Price point on db Euphoria is great as well. However, my son took a shot with SKAR speakers in his 92 F-150. Their stuff is really priced to be easy on the pocket and I have to say that their subs thump pretty hard and seem to be very high quality.

Depending on where you are at in Florida, I would look into shops close by that can show you some examples of their work. For what you're doing, you could do it yourself with some simple hand tools but there are some pitfalls if you don't know what you're doing.
