If you want to stick with the same brand for the amp and sub, JL sells a few options based on budget. The JD500/1 is a great option that will meet all of your needs. Small form factor, enough power for the sub, will handle a speaker level (sometimes called hi-level input) since you are sticking with the OEM radio. If the budget gets a little tight, you could look at other options. I guess it's time to feel out what mom considers an amount she is comfortable with spending to celebrate your 30th!

Don't forget you'll need a 4 awg wiring kit to get power from the OEM battery to the new amp.
Good to know, thanks for all that info! I'll def look into that and the wiring kit!

I'm not really sure what she wants to do cuz a few weeks ago she was talking about paying the stupid $400 disposition fee for my last lease ending and then giving me money for speakers or just basically sounded like around $1k (which tbh I was like woah whaaaat), but today she said $500 so idk LOL. There's other bday money tho!

Truly I'm not that sure LOL because my mom offered to pay for the upgrades as a special gift for my 30th bday, but it's still a lease, so I can't assume over 1k really. I know the TA dash speakers are like 250, so I'm assuming I'll have 400-500 to spend on an amp/sub? I'm not really sure tho cuz she didn't give me a number haha.

But dang, $2000?! Was that for all the speakers and a sub or just adding the sub in? I think if I get the sub I linked above, I'm hoping to be close to 700-800 after an amp. But I've not looked much into amps so I'm not sure.

Edit: she just said she's giving me $500 total lol so that'll cover that sub basically ? I mean of course that's 1000% better than nothing so I'm definitely still grateful tho haha
Mama is very generous. Sounds like a nice lady.

JL Stealthbox $650
Kenwood amp $500
JL CX350(dash) $149
JL CX650(soundbar) $300
speaker pods for 650's $100
wires/plugs/etc. $300
=$2000

Gotta love it when Mom is willing to help out!!

There are ways to spend more efficiently, it just comes down to what's important.

She definitely is!! I'm very grateful!

And ahhh okay makes sense. I think I'm looking like I'm gunna be at 800-900 with potentially an amp, that subwoofer I linked, and the TA dash speakers tbh.

Right?? I'm definitely grateful she's helping!

And True true! I think ultimately, I want to do the TA dash speakers for sure since I've heard so many good things about them, probably the sub I shared on my original post, and then amp wise, as long as it'll work with the sub and sound good, I'm good haha!

Anybody know if the newfangled (wide) ‘24 JLU 4xe head unit ships with RCA pre-out(s) behind the “radio”? If not, then the OP is gonna need some additional doodads too.

Probably not. Amp with high level ends would probably be easiest.

OP: please read this blog.

Note, as you have a ‘24, some of Annie’s JLU content may have just became obsolete. I know there’s exists ‘24+ adapter for the PAC Interface but I can’t speak to whether it’s necessary. Her 2020 blog post is still a good place to start understanding what a full, good-quality project represents:

Again: you might want to ask a professional. Be honest about the budget.

If you can somehow connect a Kicker HS10 to your ‘24 head unit directly, that’d be awesome. I doubt you can, but I just don’t know the ‘24’s capabilities. And you’ll need (fused) power.

I am really happy with the Rockford Fosgate punch p300-12. I ordered it and the Rockford install kit from Crutchfield.

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P30012/Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P300-12.html?tp=114

I have a 2018 JLU with the factory speakers and 7 inch display. In the future, I’d like to upgrade all of my speakers, but since installing the Sub, I’ve now moved upgrading the factory speakers to the bottom of the list.
If you’re looking to increase bass I think you’d really be happy with the punch p300-12.
The punch p300-12 comes with a quick disconnect so the entire box can easily be removed from the back.
Lastly, one of the main reasons I went with this particular powered sub box is the price. For $350, I don’t have too much overall investment in the event it gets stolen while the top is down.
Please PM me if you have any questions.

I'm not planning on doing anything with the head unit tho? Just the dash speakers from TA

I'll check that thread out!

It's a no go on the professionals tho.. they want to charge me 3-4k to install shit. Even over 1k just for a sub.

I really dont plan on touching the head unit tho

$1k just to install a sub?? insane!

i got tired of dealing with stereo shops and my shit working on and off so i learned how to do it myself. i bought this book (the 1st edition way back in the day) and taught myself how to do it. turns out, i did a better job than a couple of high end stereo shops i took my car too. my shit always worked after i did it myself lol. and i was running 4 amps, a pair of 12s and components.

some "pro" shops are so bad they will switch to smaller gauge wiring behind the panels where the customer wont see them. when YOU run the wires and make the connections, YOU know how good they are and where potential issues may be. nothing worse than an amp or speaker randomly shutting down due to a loose connection somewhere in the vehicle. and murphys law, it doesnt happen when you take it to the shop.
