If you've been paying attention, nobody expects anyone to work for free. Its the high restock fee / shipping fees for a semi-large, popular company... along with crappy CS that I was bitching about. If they want to stay competitive, they'd be wise to be more lenient with it. Like charge a 5% fee or similar. Especially considering Quadratec and larger places don't even have restock fees. I'm over it now anyways, Lesson learned.
Easy answer is order it from one of the big companies? I bought the 2" AEV kit for my mojave on Amazon... direct shipped from AEV. Had I wanted to return it through Amazon it would have been trouble free. People think they are helping out a company by ordering direct, but the shipping and customer service is more involved for them than just selling through Amazon. Metalcloak is one of the few companies out there that will still call and thank me for an order through Amazon. Avoiding the customer service nightmare is one of the benefits for a small company by selling through a reseller.

We've been spoiled in these days of the internet. Used to be if you went to your local motorsport shop, Super Shops, etc, that there was always a 15-25% restocking fee. Same when you mail ordered, except you paid for shipping both ways. A lot of dealer parts departments were the same.

I usually like to direct order from companies. Eibach, for example, has excellent customer service, sales and shipping included in the price. I'm surprised AEV was short with you.

So, if anything, this thread is a good warning to pay attention to return policies when buying your parts. Or to know exactly what you want when you do make a purchase.

Exactly and the CS was NOT nice at all. It was surprisingly blunt and ignored many of the questions I had. Beware anyone that has to deal with AEV CS. It costs them $75 to restock a brand new unopened item? They aren't THAT small of a company to dock me $106 (shipping not refunded) on a $489 product.
There are plenty of examples of good CS and bad CS in this industry. Metalcloak comes to mind as a particularly good company to deal with. I have dealt with AEV multiple times, and they are without a doubt the most arrogant pricks I have dealt with. AEV doesn't make anything I want bad enough to have to work with their CS again.

Yeah definitely. I should have probably stated in my OP that I did try Amazon and Quadratec but were out of stock (if I wanted it anytime soon at least).

Exactly, thats a great way of putting it. The guy was arrogant and didn't care about any of my woes. Some punk who probably hates his life was having a bad day. Oh well, we all have bad days but this dude was doubling down over a 3 day period.
