Hey all, wondering if anyone has a recommendation on a cheap exhaust, that won’t drone a ton. I live in a mountainous area so the drone of a muffler delete definitely sucks. I am not worried about high tuck or anything just want a little more tone without spending 700$ for a v6 exhaust note.

I had drone issues with one of the bolt-on mufflers advertised for Jeeps 4 years ago. I just went to the local muffler shop and they installed some offbrand turbo muffler which gave a nice tone, not loud but still had some drone when I test drove. So they put in a straight glasspack as a resonator. I spent just over $200 which was less than half the price of a bolt-on. A decent shop will work with you since it may introduce drone.

On Prime Days and Black Friday, you can usually snag the aFe MACH Force-XP Hi-Tuck mini-muffler (49-48080) for under $400. Don't think it's as nice as the similar Injen High-Tuck muffler for $700 and probably not worth its regular $550 price, but for a little over $300, it's a good deal. The Hooker Blackheart usually had great deals as well, but it looks like it's been discontinued.

If high-tuck isn't a concern, you might be able to find a dual-exit for a decent price, but those usually seem to have a higher volume output compared to a single-exit. Personally don't understand the desire to replace a large muffler with poor ground clearance to one with equally poor ground clearance. It's not like you're making additional power or ever going to make the 3.6L or 2.0T sound good.

I bought the AFE MACH Force-XP Hi-Tuck mini-muffler (49-48080) for $400 on a 4th of July sale. I am really happy with it. It does not drone at all. I have a 24 Willys with a manual transmission and wanted to hear a little tone when shifting. I like that you are not able to see it from behind the vehicle.

I had a local "mom and pop" muffler shop do a dual exhaust in my Truck for $300.00.
Seriously for something like what you want a local shop can do just as good a job and for a lot less money.

Cheap along with no drone, probably don't go hand in hand. Check out the video's on the Axle Back exhaust systems. Find ones in you price range, and listen to the exhaust sound and lack of drone in the VID's. This will take a lot of the guessing out of it. I chose the Magnufux Axle Back street series for mine. Mellow sound, with little to no drone. But it is on the expensive side.

Have you tried a delete? I had one on my last Jeep, didn't think it droned at all. Loved the sound honestly.

Here is what I did.
First just the muffler delete tail pipe. works great put a little to loud for me.
Second I installed a Borla S-type cat back also worked great put still a little to loud for me.
If I was 17 again I would be happy with ether one of these.
Last I installed Borla Touring cat back and that's what I have now and happy with it.
Now that I no longer have a muffler and muffler skid plate in the rear I have a big opening with the plastic storage exposed that can be damaged when rock crawling so I built a 3/8 aluminum skid plate.
Next I cut out the plastic storage compartment and built an aluminum storage compartment doubling the storage.
Waiting for my buddy to tig weld the box and I will install it.
Another option it this can be made into a 13gal. gas tank with a transfer pump.
My old Borla muffler and custom skid plate is for sale if any one is interested.

The stock one is pretty cheap and doesn't drone at all. That's my vote. Jeeps don't need exhausts.
