i just wanted to write this quick before i head to work, long story short i got water in the passenger well and it damaged the bcm.
front right tire went into massive water hole and i shut the engine off to prevent hydrolock.
also water didn't touch the battery or the fuse box under the hood, intake tube had water in it, we pulled the intake plenium off and no water in that, pulled the plugs and no water in the cylinders.
i drained the oil and changed the filter and am repeating that a few times to make sure no sand got in the engine. drained both diffs and no water in rear very very very little in the front diff. transfer case and transmission did not have any clay like water on them so i don't believe they were submerged, or got any water in them.
i will be changing the transfer case fluid just to be sure.

so i towed it home and pulled the carpet and seats from up front and cleaned the inside of the jeep while i let everything air dry.
most water was just on passenger side and in the foot well. blower motor did not get wet, nothing behind the dash got wet. you can see a clear line where the water got up to and it didn't go under the center console so mainly passenger footwell.

the the dash was going nuts, wipers going, lights flashing. so i changed the green 20 block canbus, ordered a new bcm and the 13 block canbus.
the bcm came and i installed it however nothing would work because it was in "plant mode"

i called the dealer and they said it had to be programmed, i towed it in Monday morning.
they reached out and told me they programmed the bcm but nothing was still working on the dash, it was not communicating with the other modules and would not even start they said it could be a bad bcm.

i told them with the old bcm i could get it to start and run it just wouldnt put the windows up and it would not change the interior blower temp "high or lo" was the only options.
i contacted the dealership i bought the bcm from and they said highly unlikely it is bad and sent me the instructions to program it and said to pass that on to the dealer.
the 13 block canbus came today, i think it got wet so i want to change it to be sure. i asked if i could come up to the dealership and hook it in quick cause it takes 10 mins.
i never got a reply

could the 13 block canbus be blocking it from communicating with the other modules?
or could they not be programming the new bcm correct?

they are starting diagnostics at 215 a hour and i have a insurance adjuster going in on Friday to get estimates.

just looking for more ideas what to look for and what i should replace or inspect.

If it isn’t communicating, they can’t have programmed it properly. It’s a CAN network fault for sure, but any single component on the network being damaged will do this. How high did the water get?

since it was front right tire nose dived into the gravel water it was leaning hard passanger. water came thru the bottom of the door near the front and just sat on the corner against the bcm board. it did not reach the blower motor or anything under the dash or center console.
i checked all that out when i pulled the seats, carpet and center console out to clean it.
however my glovebox was open and the girlfriend lifted her soaking wet backpack and i watch the water hit the green and white canbus.
and just for good measure when i seen that i slammed the glove box closed and watch more water hit the 2 canbus blocks.

So if 1 module on the can network goes out none of the others will work?
For instance like a string of Christmas lights? 1 bulb blows the whole thing stops working?

Yeah, better check every bulb. And the switch in the garage, too…

Not necessarily. If the module fails on a way that directly affects the CAN circuit , the whole thing is going down. If it just loses a few outputs or internal relays fail, it won’t affect the CAN system.

Computers getting wet is worst case scenario.

just a update, i went to the dealership today and spoke with the tech.
he will not be looking more into mine tell Thursday, he said he got it programed but it was having errors still.
i handed him the 13 block star can bus and asked him to install it.
he said yes, that could fix alot of the issues you are having but again he has not been able to dive into it yet.
he did tell me that he wants to look at the large wire loom and connection behind the passenger fender liner, he says he has been seeing alot of warranty issues from that just from road splash so he wants to inspect that.

it sounds stupid but after talking with him i feel better.
he seems to actually care and wants the job done right.

just a update, i had the mechanic change out the 13 block canbus (he did it for free) and the new bcm communicated with all the modules.
he did have to pull the large connectors behind the passenger wheel well liner and spray moisture out, i guess those have been causing others problems.
he went throughout and dielectric greased the connections.
few hundred bucks to get it programmed, and the 250 i spent on a new bcm board.
