  4. simple tow bar question

I am starting to get my wrangler set up for flat towing and when it comes to tow bars, well lets just say there are many options. last night I weighed my jeep at the local Cat scale. it came out to 5080 lbs. that's without me and it had a full tank of gas and probably 50 pounds of tools in it...
  5. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

My 3.6 made it 14,000 miles... Before the new design rocker arm that cost 7x more failed and chewed 2 cams. Haha, I don't think it was a upgrade.
  6. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

I've had a Jeep for 21 years, they were built Cherokees. Sadly I sold it for this current Wrangler but I would never have either as a lone vehicle. I've always had a Ford truck as my go to in case the Jeep was down for repairs, or loaded up for a upcoming trip, or I simply didn't have enough...
  7. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

So I was wondering because I thought I had read on a thread here, that you need your oil temp to get to at least 220 degrees to burn off water/moisture in the oil/engine otherwise it turns acidic and eats away at seals and bearings. not all the time but for at least a few mins. Have you heard...
  8. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

right and when you put in 2015, 2016, 2020, 2021 your part does not fit the jeep wrangler but 2017 and 2018 it does? but i cant see a difference without actually seeing the parts in hand. so why wouldn't yours work in my engine? but back at hand, in some cases it is not a simple "100 dollars...
  9. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

thats what i seen but mopars are 75 bucks a piece. mopar part # 5047896ad those were the ones on the work order from the jeep dealership. 2021 3.6 e torque engine. cant imagine the rockers would be to different between e torque and regular 3.6. so why is yours 11 dollars and mine were 75?
  10. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

I'm planning on running Lucas Oil Low Viscosity Stabilizer in the oil. wondering if that would be better then running a 5w 30, or 0w 40? i use Valvoline full synthetic 0w 20, it had mopar oil 0w 20 in it when it failed.
  11. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

mine did not make a single tick noise, and i been all over youtube to hear this tick that leads to failure so i could be aware of it. i also am confident enough to replace the lifters, arms, cams if there was a tick. i had to stop 6 times for gas on my drive to Moab and not once was there any...
  12. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

I don't want to hijack this fellas thread but that fan looks pretty interesting upgrade. I wonder what would be a better upgrade a cold case aluminum radiator or this PWM fan? both are 400 dollars.
  13. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

Yeah I'm still trying to figure it out. I did no upgrades to the engine and i maintain and keep it clean. I have A Insurance monitor for lower rates so I'm not flooring it, or flying around corners. The rocker arms wore a groove into the intake cam lobe. They repaired the passenger side and...
  14. 3.6L Rocker Failure Leading to Cam Damage

12,500 miles on my 3.6 don't trust it 1 bit. oil changed at 500, 1000, 3000, 7500, 10000, 12,500 drove out to Moab in august 1200 miles, pulled into town and lost power, pulled into the gas station and heard the valves ticking, checked my oil and it was still full. went to the local shop and he...
  15. Is minimal track bar movement normal?

so just a update for those in the future needing help, I fixed my shimmy that would go into death wobble at 50 mph. tires were checked for balance, alignment was checked. I replaced my steer smarts steering stabilizer relocation bracket which is on the axle side and the steer smart track bar...
  16. Bad ball joint?

After setting preload i took it apart after 25 mile test drive to make sure ball joint was still tight. it was still tight so i put it back together then I test drove last night after work and it was alot smoother. No shake even up to 70mph. I had preloaded and adjusted my ball joints, track...
  17. Bad ball joint?

To be clear, I can't say there 100 percent the problem. It's still on going. When i have tracked down the issue, I update each thread i post.
  18. Bad ball joint?

After the test drive it drove alot better but at 60 to 65 there was front end wobble. Nothing that was getting horrible but very strong feeling. Tomorrow I'll tear it down and see if that ball joint is loose again after preloading and tightening it and the others down this afternoon. If its...
  19. Bad ball joint?

1500, everything was greased and torqued in august before going to utah. Broke down pulling into moab, had to get it shipped home. Ever since then it's had nasty shimmy that goes into death wobble. It drove 1200 miles just perfect out there. So I'm trying to track down the problem. Steering...
  20. Bad ball joint?

We shall see, i got it back together and have them preloaded. I'll go for a test run tonight and if there is wobble up front it will be my first thing to check. If you are doing it for the first time then get the rebuildable that stay in so you dont have to keep pressing them out and in.
