That’s a good question. My understanding is the patch created a warning message when the clutch gets warm. I would think it would still work with the CF

Mine hasn’t failed yet but I’m looking at preventive measures.
I owned a 18 JLU for a week before I realized the clutch slipping in 5th gear at 32k miles though it was originally purchased in Miami. Carmax was able to swap it for a 19 JL with 24k miles but now I’m just hating driving it with how bad the revs are under throttle. I know I’ve slipped the clutch shifting because I’m not waiting long enough

It’s had 2 recalls done for the clutch patch thing so trying to figure out if it’s normal or needs work.

Ordered KCFT157077 this morning thru Extreme Terrain. They had the lowest price of $1099 plus tax. Now wait for order to ship.

Ehhh let’s not talk about that, pretty much the price of the clutch plus 12 hours of shop time
Yeah, that's pretty steep. It's do-able in five but I've run into snags every time and probably average 8hrs. Of course, that's also working by myself which makes certain parts trickier.

So did you all have clutches that failed already? I just bought a 19 JL manual 2 door and reading in this clutch recall thing. Rev hang is so bad on my jeep I’m thinking about trading it in.

Did the new clutch remove the detune patch jeep put on the recalled clutches?
Only way to address rev hang (that I'm aware of now) is with a Livernois tune. It's programmed for the rev hang by the factory to reduce minuscule emissions and is probably more than offset by the emissions of burning your clutch when trying to shift quickly ?‍♂

The heavy CF flywheel makes the rev hang even worse, but the kick it gives when dumping the clutch at any rpm is quite satisfying.

The detune patch should never kick in with the CF clutch as I highly doubt you'll ever waste it to the point of slippage

He went off what centerforce said, 6 hours for two people on a lift since he’s alone he doubled it, he said he thought he’d able to beat it but when the dealership did my recall they left a mess up there so he had to fix that in his words “whoever worked on this clutch was an animal” plus the slave etc and bleed procedure took a while since he did it twice to be sure. Hes expensive but there thorough.

In the end, if the work is quality it's worth it. Not much worse than saving money and having a terrible job done.

Absolutely that is why I use him so I don’t have to worry about whether it was one right or wrong

Checked Extreme Terrain this weekend and they had updated the price on the CF clutch kit. Today I received an email that my clutch has shipped and they honored the $1099 price. ? so now the debate, do I leave mine alone as it is working fine or change it out?

@Gregj, just checked my ET order also still has the same date go 26 Aug for estimate. I would probably keep it just in case.

I ordered the CF 2 from Quad, also called CF and they said hoping to have stock go out by end of September. And no don't wait if you have the clutch put the baby in!!!

Are we sure that this clutch is going to solve the problem?
I decided against getting a new Jeep considering the corrosion issues.
Since I already have the Jeep it’s tempting to fix with centerfirce but my fear is something happening with it.

Well only thing in life guaranteed is death and taxes, but at the very least the CF clutch won't detonate and threaten the safety of my kids, thats my biggest concern. Bonus will be a superior stout clutch that functions as it should! And from what I hear the 18lb flywheel makes it feel like you have more torque off the line which would be nice...again it isn't the clutch failing that most of us are concerned about, its the spectacular fashion in which it does that's of paramount concern...

Exactly. That’s all I care about. If it fails fine, I just don’t want that big heavy flywheel coming at me.
Every time I get in the Jeep I’m afraid it’s gonna go boom. I’ve never had slippage but apparently a few people who’ve had the Big Bang didn’t have it slip either. My husband drives it with no issues.
He tells me if he blows up enjoy the insurance money. ?

Also guaranteed, never trust insurance companies!!! I've had no issues with either my 2018 or now my 2021 clutches, but its worth it for peace of mind for me. And I know I don't speak for everyone here, but all of my trucks and Jeeps have been stick, never owned an auto, this JL clutch never felt right from the get go, too light, too vague pick up, etc...

I was thrilled to get the manual even though everyone told me I was nuts.
