I don't know if thks has been discussed much, here. But, i have never liked the location of the 3.6 catalytic converters. They are up against the engine, and basically a part of headers. This makes it hard to work on things, and also produces a ton of heat, in the engine compartment, where we don't want excessive heat.
Any thoughts?

You could always move it down underneath before the muffler. Of course then it would be easier to steal. I can almost guarantee you that nobody is going to try to steal your catalytic converter from it current location on the 3.6l...

They mounted it next to the engine for a purpose and that is the HEAT, helps to keep it clean internally. As it captures the particulates it will also burn them off.

Or so I was told and yes, it makes sense to me.

They have been doing this for many years on many makes of cars. You could just remove them. As we know, that is illegal. Plus having the cat warm up slower will just throw a check engine light due to reduced cat efficiency.
