Anyone here replaced their catalytic converter and used the magnaflow universal one for jeep? Trying to save a little $$ as I’ve just had to do a complete engine repair and would rather not pay $2k right now. I will also be replacing the o2 sensors. Currently I just need to do the passenger side.
if so — is it really snap and go as it seems? Any figment issues? Any other recommendations over theirs for a quick, easy replacement?
is it something that can easily be done at home or recommended a shop?
Thanks for your input!

Magnaflow are the only cats we use, it’s annoying that they don’t come with gaskets but they always fit right. Sometimes they come with too many holes.

Thanks for the input. Glad to hear. So if I’m ordering one should I also order a gasket?

If you don't want to reuse the old one, yes. The gasket for mating to the cylinder head and honestly I'm not even sure if there is one downstream of the cat pipe. What is wrong with yours?

According to the service dept mine melted on the passenger side. (As the service tech put it). I was told it was all cracked and had debris on it and needed replaced. I’m also getting a code for it.

Makes sense, you said you had some major engine damage? Could have gone engine -> cat or cat -> engine, depending on the nature of failure. Either way, magnaflow cats in the OEM grade are good. Watch out for the option for HM grade though, not as good. Is there a direct fit available for your Jeep?
