Hey all, fairly new Jeep owned here looking for some thoughts and maybe some user feedback from their own experience.

i bought the sky one touch roof option, which 95% of the time I love and 5% of the time I despise.

at the same time I got the Jeep I purchased my own canoe (renting was getting too expensive) and I picked up the Thule gutter roof rack system with 8” of clearance and the aero bar which is what is designed to work with the one touch to ensure proper clearance for the roof.

problem is if I put the canoe up there and drive over 75km/h the wind buffeting is pretty severe and I’m concerned about the durability of the roof.

my question is, has anyone else dealt With similar and if so did you mitigate it somehow?

or might it be better to forgo the roof rack and just put the canoe on foam blocks directly on the roof? I know that sounds ridiculous but the roof is rated for 300 lbs of load and my canoe only weighs 30lbs.

I have a front receiver installed and use two "bed extenders" mounted in the vertical position. It was cheaper than many rack systems and allows me to carry my canoe or ladder when the soft top is on or if I am running topless.

Thanks for the feedback, that would be a great option for a longer canoe. Mine is only 14' long (solo Prospector). The Jeep is longer than the canoe so using the bed extenders in the front and back wouldn't really work in my case.

I take it with the roof closed no buffeting? I'm curious how much clearance you have to the roof? With the 8" gutter mounts I have lots of clearance to open the roof. And to be honest with the roof open it's fine, I mean there is more noise but the wind doesn't impact anything negatively. It's only an issue when closed and I'm wondering if the mounts were higher or lower if it'd help things.

No personal feedback on this yet, still considering it myself, but I came across this carrier when I was looking for a way to carry a kayak in a 2 door. Maybe an idea for you as well:
