So I’ve been eying this rack for well over a year that a local off road shop had in stock. We all know how long the wait time Gobi has. It was listed as a stealth rack for a hard top / soft top. So I finally took the plunge and went and bought it and brought it home. After opening the box and and reading the instructions I realized it’s technically the wrong rack for my Jeep. It’s for the sky one touch top. But I bought it so I may as well install it.

With one of the biggest challenges the reviews talk about the correct rack is the rack rubbing on the soft top and making a buffeting noise. Well this set up doesn’t touch the top at all. The only noise is a slightly louder wind noise that’s barely noticeable. And bonus it came with two ladders.

Just a thought for those looking at these racks. Not sure why yet the reason that Gobi says it’s not compatible with the softtop but so far it works just fine. I’ll let y’all know when I get the pin kit so I can hinge it back and drop the top.

The rack does sit level, I don’t think the Jeep is on level ground. But I believe that the sky touch rack sits a little higher than the standard rack plus the way the front of the soft top dips down towards the windshield makes it look taller.

Have you run into any issues with it being “not compatible” I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing with my jeep. But haven’t found anyone else who has put the one touch rack on a soft top. All I hear about the standard racks is that they rub the soft tops rough.

The rack doesn’t touch the soft top at all. I have the cross bars mounted differently than oem so they are really close but still don’t touch. Only reason I have it the way the way that I do is to get the tent as low as possible so I can park in my garage. If the cross bars are mounted using the correct brackets they don’t come close to the top. Maybe the compatibility has to do with getting the side windows out easily. Definitely can’t pull them towards the rear. Have to put them in front to rear and kinda twist the curved section into place. Still not that difficult.
