Congrats, that's fantastic!

Most car seats install using the LATCH system, so their attachments are pretty similar. One thing to keep in mind is that you basically buy into a brand's ecosystem - ie, we use Graco car seats, which are made to clip easily into Graco strollers... Each brand has it's own system of products that work together, so it's worth checking out more than just the car seat before you make a selection.

Also, if you have more than one car, shell out for an additional car seat base.. Makes it much easier to switch vehicles with the car seat!

First and foremost, congratulations!

B. Glad you got the JLU and not JL..

And 4th I am not a huge fan of consumer reports but I would research them and check what rates well. I always spent a bit more on car seats and got the top rated ones.

Britax are the safest seats made. They have metal frames and are worth every penny. The Marathon is a great infant seat.

I have an (almost) 2 year old and a 4 1/2 year old. They both used the infant seats by Britax. Buy the ones that come with a base so that the base is the part installed. The seat clicks on to the base and allows you to take the seat in and out with very little hassle. Also, buy a second base and install in your wife's vehicle, grandparents, etc...

That seat will then also clip right into their strollers. Check the model first for compatibility, but ours did. I can't remember what the model is called

First, Congrats!!!

I would second the Britax suggestion. I have three children, and the smallest just moved to a highjack booster.

I would ask the parents of multiple children, has anyone been able to get three booster seats across the back of a JLU ?

Im wondering the same thing; planning on the 3rd and last one and im definately getting no mini van or durango. Theres got to be a good slim child seat.

Same boat here, and I've been doing some research.

Basically it comes down buying into a brand's ecosystem, as someone else said. Just research each brand and see if they have want you want. I'm going with Graco, for example, because my wife and I know we want a really good jogging stroller and Graco's "Snugfit" brand or whatever is compatible with a ton of them, even non-Graco jogging strollers.

Random: Did you know Jeep actually has a line of strollers? It's called "J is for Jeep." Crazy lol

There is a good website to check out that can help answer your questions... https://www.thecarcrashdetective.com/3-across-car-seat-guide-html/

And this is specifically for the Wrangler

We have a Diona Radian RXT that I would recommend. It grows with your child, has a fully steel frame and is narrow enough to let you install 3 in a row in most vehicles. Good luck!

Congrats dad! We have a 2, 3, and 4 year old and have all of them in car seats across our JLU SportS back seat. Much easier to install car seats in the JL vs the JK. Only down side is that the headrest sticks out and the back of the forward facing seats have a gap. Not a safety issue so much as a reduced leg room issue. I’m 6’3 so the seat is all the way back and it isn’t an issue for my 3 year old to be behind me, but my 4 yr old doesn’t have the room... he rides in the middle. In the JK, you could release the headrest and it folded back and you could gain that space. With the JL headrest folding forward you can’t gain that space. Sorry for the long post! Also we have three different brands of seats. There is a site out there, can’t think of the name. That will tell you what three seats will fit across the back, of there are any other crazy’s out there like me and my wife.

Congratulations! Your world is about to change in so many ways and they are all awesome! My daughter will be four months old on the 5th.

We have a Britax car seat and it fits well in the Jeep. It actually fits better in the JLU than it fit in the new Tahoe we had for a few minutes before I bought the JL. Britax gets the marks for the safest seats, but I really dislike the one we have. I think its an Endeavors. She doesn't look comfortable in it and its hard as hell to get her in and out of it without feeling like you're going to damage the little thing. lol

Good luck and congrats again!

Glad I found this post as we just found out we are expecting. Have heard bad things about fitting rear facing seats in a wrangler. Can anyone confirm if this is still an issue with the JLU as it was with the JKU? I thought I remember reading somewhere that the extended the rear a couple inches so hoping a seat fits well in the Jeep. Have a million other concerns as this is our first child. Don’t want the seat not fitting to be one of them.

Congrats!!! Being a dad is the most important and rewarding job I have. I have a 6 year old and a 5 month old.

I had britax for the first kid until I went to a backless booster. I have a graco booster for the older one.

For the little one, I have a peg perego primo viaggio 4-35. I really like it. The base is awesome.
