Hey All,

Looking for some help, I was doing a photo shoot with Rhino Rack on a beach today and turned off traction control and stability by holding the traction control button in for 5 seconds or what ever it is. Did a heap of sand driving, went through a very small river that was running into the ocean from the lake.. (only 3m / 9ft wide or there abouts and not even knee deep)

When i tried to turn traction control back on at the end of the day when we were airing up, it wouldnt let me turn anything on (and i also found it strange that the ABS light was on that entire time with it all off or is that normal, I cant remember)

Turning off the car and back on again took away the abs light and the stability light but the traction control light stays on. If i push the traction control button again, ABS light turns on and stability and then I cant turn anything off again until i turn car off and then back on again at which point the traction control light stays on.

Tried searching online and all for an answer, but cant find anything.

Anyone have any clues? This is a JLUR.

Cheers.

Edit: looked at it again.. pressed and held the traction control button and the screen does flash up two messages. "ABS Service required" and "Electronic Stability Control Service Required". Note that no errors where showing before i turned traction control off for the first time and I assume maybe a abs cable or something is loose? I used an OBD2 scan tool and no engine codes were found and alerted me to anything wrong =/

1. There are some posts on the forums that show they have found loose fuses and relays causing odd behavior, not specifically traction control but it might help out the issue you are describing. Sometimes just pushing all the fuses and relays in will fix the problem, other times you have to completely remove and reinsert the appropriate fuse or relay to fix the problem.

2. Regarding the stability control, I’ve held the traction button down for extended periods of time but I don’t see an indication of the stability control being turned off. Did your Jeep flash a message indicating stability was off? I also have a JLUR.

One of the first things I did when I got my new JLUR was pop the hood and push on fuses. I found 17 of them that were not fully seated.

Thanks guys, I'll check the fuses in the morning.. and yeah it does tell me about stability control.. I'm sure it does, only turned it off a couple of times but confident it displays on the cluster that it's off or if not there was another light...

Fuses was the problem. Id say 75% of my fuses and relays were not in completely.. Pushed them all in and traction control issue is solved. So thanks for that =)

As for stability control.. Mine does say it.. but not sure if it has anything to do with having a TazerJL installed.

This was 100% the issue, as i said above.. the majority of the fuses were loose.. Thats not good.. but hey, problem fixed now.. Cheers guys.

That’s great news. 1. When you push and hold the button for 5 seconds, are you in park or driving? If driving, what speed? 2. Also the button doesn’t have ESC on it, it has a vehicle and two squiggling lines. When I press it, the display says Traction Control Off not ESC Off. The owners manual says ESC, but the dash says Traction Control. Please advise.

So keep in mind TazerJL is installed.

one press of TC button it says "Traction Control Off" with the light of the car, two squiggling lines and the word off

Long press of TC button says the following:
"Traction Control Off" "ABS Service Required" and "Electronic Stability Control Service required" with the ABS light on and another car with two squiggling lines.

I know the TazerJL is turning off ABS and ESC.. I guess thats what ive been seeing, just never really taken the time to read it all properly as i normally turn all the assists off while already driving on the beach.

I wonder why the owners manual says to press the ESC button to turn ESC off. I don’t see an ESC button.

yeah no idea.... Have you tried being in 4wd hi or low to see if holding the button does anything different?
