I'm a first time buyer. A new member(since 1/23)replied to my WTB out of the blue, through all my searches haven't seen his item posted. Anyways says he's willing to ship. Any suggestions as to how I should set up pay. Thanks all!

First i would have it looked over. I did this once on a car in phoenix [i'm near st louis] I asked the guy for his address and then googled a repair shop near by. I called the repair shop and set up an appointment to have them check it out. They did so and i found out it was a pos. Best $80 i spent in a long time. I sold a car to a guy once in florida and had his bank deal with my bank directly with a wire transfer. It went well.

Paypal goods and services should be the only way you look to pay for an item to someone you don't know.

Do not ever buy a vehicle sight unseen. Ever. It’s never worth it. Plane tickets are cheap, fly out and put eyes on it yourself.

If it’s an item like a bumper or something like that, then roll the dice and use PayPal. Not something I would do, but the risk is lower. Ask him to send a specific pic with the item, say him holding a coffee cup with the item, this will help you verify the person actually has the item and isn’t just scamming outright.

Good afternoon to all that replied. I appreciate your feedback & advice. I hope my questions didn't paint me as some naive patsy. LOL

In fact I'm quite the opposite, too the point that I'm not trusting when it comes to online shit. Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App I try to stay away from, I've read a few members say something about PayPal Goods/Services. I haven't researched it yet, I'm going to find out if it directly protects your money against a POS scammer.

I came across a post in the JL Forum marketplace last night where a member had his account hacked, his password changed which locked him out. The POS scammer than went on to advertise a $700 whinch for sale, was able to digitally write the username & date, after which a purchase made & the buyer was out $700!!!! Fucking scamming bastards!!
