Yea, at least there's a work around. But at the end it will cost someone more than the option was to begin with. It's silly for FCA to change the process and restrict the built in harness in every soft-top ordered unit. It costs them pennies to do. Given the fact that Wrangler owners change parts very often, it would've been thoughtful.@Carbonalpine; I purchased a hardtop so I canāt say for sure, but from what Iāve read on the forum here, they do not come pre-wired if you get soft top only. Again...from what Iāve read, you have to buy the wiring harness and a new wiper switch for the steering column if you want full functionality.
I'm kind of planning on eventually selling my hardtop, once a good fastback hardtop becomes available on the market.
Wow, this is really awesome, maybe something I'd consider doing later. Doesn't seem too hard either, but you do need time and money, neither of which I've been known to have much of!When prices fall I'd like to buy a 2nd, 4 door hardtop and try this project of breaking it into 4 connectable pieces.
