Buying from distant dealer? Cons?

I hope to be driving my JLUR XR from ID to WA by May as well. Did you order from Kent at Peterson’s? What was your order date?

How was your experience and what did it entail? I am looking to order a JLUW-XR from them with most if not all of the trimmings. Then most likely driving it back to So-Cal. Never purchased out of state before though. Mind DM'ing a rundown of how it went?

It was a pretty quick and painless process from an ordering perspective. Kent has been great to work with thus far. I can send you a document that outlines the details of ordering through him.

+1 to this. I'm really looking forward to driving my JLUR XR from Idaho to Califronia in May, hopefully. Planning to hit some trails in Oregon and Nevada on the way home.

I’m also doing the trek from Idaho to California. This will be my third such drive for a new Jeep, though the first with Kent @Peterson. He’s be awesome though, super responsive and great discount! Mine is built but not transported yet! my prior two returns have been driving and camping in the new Jeep in December/January. I’m looking forward to the trip being in a bit more sociable weather ?

That is awesome! Gives me hope that when I do pull the trigger it won't be an issue. My wife and I have family up there too, so I was thinking we go pay a visit for a day or two then put it on a trailer and bring it back if we don't end up flying to drive it back.

Yes I ordered from Kent. I ordered on 1/18. My timing was really bad, right after the price increase. To make it worse I actually tried to order a couple of days before but had a problem getting a fax with my credit card number to go through. That cost me about $2,000. In the end it doesn't really make a difference. It's still a great deal for an great jeep.

I never had any issues with service from other dealers. I even take my Chevy to the local GMC/Cadillac near my house and they honor the GM extended service plan purchased from a dealer an hour away. Purchased at a Chevy dealer.

Will be taking my Jeep to a different dealer as well for maintenance.

Hello all,

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am considering buying from a dealer about an hour from me as I may be able to get a discount on a JL Willys build. Question: Are there any cons from buying from a dealer over an hour away when it comes to warranty and the Jeep Wave program? Can I get my Jeep serviced at another jeep dealership and will my jeep warranty only be covered by that dealership I bought from, or will it be valid at any Jeep dealer provider? That’s my hesitation as I don’t want to have a dealership as a base over 1 hour away (that is far for where I live!). If I went to a more local dealer, I probably wouldn’t get a discount on the MSRP.

The commute is going to kill you my man

I live in California. What’s crazy is that your out of state vehicle will have to be smog checked, even though it’s new, and even though it’s CA emission certified. It can take a few hundred miles of driving before the computers will allow a smog check to pass.

Thanks for the heads up. Fortunately, I will have driven it hundreds of miles by the time I get home so there should be no problems.
