I replaced my brake pads recently. Have 40k on my Jlu. Roughly 1.5yrs ago I had replaced pads only (powerstop kit). Brakes were squeaking for several weeks and figured they were worn out.
all of the old pads had at least 3/4 of pad thickness left. They were pitttd in some spots. The “ends” of the pads were chipped up. The rotors showed some superficial wear. Replaced them with new set of power stops and they are quiet and brake normally.
I guess my question is—were my old pads getting chewed up by sand/dirt/grit from off-roading? Anything to prevent or reduce damage? Just get used to replacing?
