Welp...

Turns out some of our holiday guests are bourbon-suckin' hogs. My jug only has a trickle left in it now.

But what the heck. Drinkin' is what it's made for. ;)
If they’re people who appreciate good bourbon I don’t mind so much. If they’re just drunks who are more concerned with quantity consumed over quantity, I put away the good stuff. I got a nice crystal decanter and set of glasses as a gift. I made it an infinity flask. Currently it’s Crown Royal, Knob Creek 9, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, and 1 or 2 other mid or bottom shelf whiskeys that I don’t drink. Nothing expensive or rare. They love it! They feel like the “bourbon guy” is giving them special insight. Win-win.

They were all family and picky drinkers for the most part. So they appreciated the good stuff. Just didn't leave much behind, is all. They enjoyed it and I'll be sure to return the favor next time I'm their guest.

Wait, so you’re telling me Knob Creek 9 is not good stuff??? Damn, I thought I was somebody.?‍♂
I do enjoy the ones you listed though. Just enjoy some others more.

Not to me. It’s kind of middle of the road. And it’s not expensive or hard to come by. I’d sacrifice that before my EH Taylor or Garrison Bros Cowboy Bourbon. My brother in law is almost 60 but drinks like a college frat boy.

Whatever you prefer is the "good stuff." It doesn't have to be expensive to be enjoyed, shared, envied...

Knob Creek, while certainly not considered top shelf, is friggin delicious and I'd never turn my nose up at it. If you haven't already, try the Knob Creek Single Barrel.

Is Garrison Bros only a Texas Bourbon? Can't find it here in KY. You all keep raving about it. Maybe I need one of you to buy me a bottle and send my way.

Garrison is TX-only. And, in my humble opinion, not good at all.

I know others will disagree. But, to me, it's harsh and unrefined. The Cowboy version Chocolate Thunder mentioned is the best of their offerings but, at $200+/bottle, my money will go elsewhere. I'd take two bottles of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof over any Garrison Bros. any day.

For TX-only whiskies, Still Austin and Balcones have much better offerings for much better prices.

It’s a Texas bourbon but I don’t know if it’s only sold here. It’s pretty good. It’s overpriced IMO. They are relatively new and the operation is tiny. I’ve been there. It’s a barn in a pasture in the middle of nowhere. Literally. Because they’re relatively new, they don’t have anything aged as much as I typically prefer (10-12 years).

Being in KY you’ve got access to a ton more good stuff than we do. I’d be willing to set up a trade.

Thanks for the honest reviews guys. Yeah at $200 a bottle I would pass as well. I have now had a bunch at the high watermark of $70 a bottle and they are wonderful.

Back on track I have to say the BH Toast makes a really good old fashioned. Not sure why but it really takes to the sugar and orange flavor. It is an expensive OF but I do not care.

It’s $250. But does your whiskey come with its own coffin AND a medal around its neck? I think NOT! [/sarcasm]

As you can see I haven’t even opened it yet. I’d be shocked if it’s anywhere near $250 good. Not much is IMO. Sometimes I buy bottles to have in the collection. If I love it, great. If not then I gave it a try.
