Not to be pedantic, but neither of those are bourbon. Tennessee whiskey and blended Canadian whiskey are great if they’re your thing, but they’re not bourbon.
To be fair, Jack meets all legal requirements, but is not called bourbon.

Man it was excellent! One of the reasons I like Reservoir so much is I can really pick out the layers of flavor. With this wheat, there are notes of cherry and cinnamon and after it’s gone you can smell the glass and tobacco is right there. This will be a regular on my shelf for sure!
I'm going to keep my eyes open for it, can't wait to try it.

HOLY CRAP MATT!!! I'm going to go home drunk, broke and with TRUCK FULL O' Bourbon. Thanks SO MUCH! WOW
There are far worse ways to come home! Just doing my part to help out fellow whiskey-lovers. Only thing I ask in return is some notes on your trip after you get back!

Well I may be skewered for this, but if you can’t find Eagle Rare or Blanton’s, go get a bottle of Ancient Age. It’s $15 and comes from the same Mash and is basically the rejected Blanton’s. Cracked a bottle last night and I’m not sure I could tell the difference between it and Eagle Rare. Check it out.

As a guy who loves Eagle Rare (and Blanton’s) I won’t skewer you, but color me a bit skeptical. I have drank AA before but it was decades ago when I was very young and didn’t care about bourbon so I’ll admit that I don’t remember at all what it was like. I’m going to give it a try to test out your “rejected Blanton’s” claim. Maybe even do a blind tasting of the 3. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly shocked and surprised. I hope you’re right. And BTW, I see you putting the cheap stuff in the front for guests and hiding that good stuff in the back. ;)

As far a being the same mash bill as Blanton’s, that’s true. BT like most distilleries only has 3 or 4 recipes but that doesn’t exactly meant that all the brands from the same mash bill are that similar. Blanton’s and Ancient Age are from their higher rye bill #2 , and Eagle Rare is from low rye #1.

I had never given AA an opportunity, until the old guy at the liquor store told me how sick of these high prices he was for Blanton’s, EH and ER. Told me to give this a shot. At $15, I figured it was worth it. I tasted both AA and Blanton’s last night and enjoyed the AA. Going to do a blind test with AA, Blanton’s, EH and ER. I’d like to see which I prefer without knowing the label.
Blanton’s may just be for show and AA is for drinking.

Blantons in Ct IF you can find it is $90-$125 a bottle. I have a few squirreled away in the basement and won't open it for a while.

I have seen AA and just fluffed it off, at that price I'll grab a bottle and worst case use it for mixed drinks. Thanks for the tip Shak

I definitely do not claim to have the most refined palate. I really enjoy Eagle Rare and Blanton's. I tried a bottle of Ancient Age and could not get into it. I generally love the BT line but for some reason this one is not my favorite. Always good with some coke or sour mix though.

I really don’t see the point in skewering people for their opinion. If you like it and it tastes like ER or Blanton’s then rock on.

BT is being advertised on Facebook that you can buy a case and after shipping it comes out to $29 a bottle. I think the retailer is Nestors?

This would not surprise me and I am not challenging the truth of this fact. I am only adding that plenty claim several other "lower end" bourbons are from the same mash as Blantons and Pappy. I don't exactly know if any of it is true as it seems to not come from really reliable sources. We live about 20 minutes from BT. We go there a lot and usually take all visiting guests to that tour. Now once has one of the tour guides or someone that works there said or claimed truth of any of these facts.

I do say however drink what you like. Drink it however you like and just enjoy the bourbon culture. Living here it is a blast to learn and experience the bourbon culture and all of the distilleries and their heritage and story. We have hit about 12 of them. Still need to go back to a few as with covid the tours were a bit watered down.
