This bottle was given to me by a fellow Jlwranglerforum member. We were just chatting, and talking about booze in general and told him that when my son returns from deployments, that I typically buy a good bottle of bourbon and a good cigar and will drive the 1000 or so miles and share a bottle with him.

Well he walks to his cabinet and pulls this out and says, I want you to have this.

So with luck, I may be cracking this open in six to nine months. Such a generous guy.
Very generous. Thank him for his service.

My daughter will be returning from her deployment very soon. I've got a bottle of EHTaylor that I've been saving for months that we'll crack open we she returns.
Lots to celebrate with her. Return from first overseas deployment, she went up a rank while there and bought a house (that was an ordeal for my wife and I being her proxy for this).

Very cool, Enjoy a nice time with her when she returns. There is no better feeling than when one of your kids return from deployment and is back on US soil.

My son has deployed five times. Three times in the last three years. Then when he is home, he is often gone to the field or in other states doing training. It seams like he said that for every day he has been home in his bed, he was gone for almost two days. He is just fortunate that his wife is smart, loyal and independent. She is super cool. We enjoyed easter with her yesterday.

Reaching out to all my Beer drinkers: I was in Austin Tx, stopped off a Pizza joint that I frequent when I am in the Austin Zone. I order and decide to have a beer with it. I look a the menu and see this.

Got to be one of the best beers I have ever tasted. Its not the weak, 9.5% ABV. Made of Texas Pecans and aged in Texas Bourbon Whiskey Barrels. THis is GREAT BEER, IF you can find it, very limited brew.

My favorite Texas distiller. Their Cask Strength is an absolute banger for <$70!

That is doable, I got some 125 proof, Bookers, I think I paid around $100 bucks for the bottle. It was for a friend, old WWII Fighter pilot, sadly he died before I could get to him.

I took one shot and thought I had a mouth full of gasoline, it was HORRIBLE. I am a high proof drinker and have always been, Weller 107, now Weller 107 costs $107...sadly

Sorry for your buddy's passing. I typically go after the high proof juices myself.

I was at a bourbon tasting at a cigar shop and me and this older guy (come to find out he is 84 and still working 3am to noon 5 days a week.) with a long white beard and like 5'2. I was just impressed with his story and I bought him a bourbon as we had our cigars.

I told him anything he'd like just pick it. He calls the bartender over and says two of my usuals. I had no idea what it was, but clearly he was a regular. I took a sip and was impressed. He said it's a little hot, but I think it was fine. It was 100 proof and the first time I had tasted it.

Come to find out I had been walking by it for years and because of the price point I always turned my nose up at it and went to my usual $80-$100 bottles. At the price point of $18.00 I was impressed and have a new everyday sipper and save the good stuff for the weekend.

Yes, Ole Jack Sides, LTC USAF retired, Shot down 3 times and made back to friendly all 3 times. He was a tough cookie to say the least. He was 90 when he dropped dead. He lived in Scottsdale AZ and I had recently been out to see him, spent a week with him and we drank high proof every night, he loved his bourbons.

Fone rang one night about 7 and I answered, HEY Jack what's up...THen I heard Its not Jack, it's Judy (his wife). I knew then what the news was. He was walking out the door with his wife on the way to dinner and he dropped dead in the doorway.

Me and Jack, my last salute to him...

I saw you 203 days...LOL

I ordered my 2020 F 450 King Ranch truck on 16 Aug, the moment the computers would accept an order. Hour later I had Acceptance, end of the day I had a VIN, week later I had a build date not long after that I got a ship date.

Its now early OCT and looking forward to my truck, any day now.

ANY day now became 20 Jan 2020. I get a call from the Owner and he says your truck is sitting in front of dealership, come and get it out my way, it's blocking traffic and the doors....tiny country dealership not even a show room.

What happened: We don't know but My dealer and even FORD had lost it in the system, no one knew where it was.

What he thinks is it delivered to a dealership somewhere, prob a BIG dealer, it off loaded by accident and just put into inventory with a lot of others. F 450s are not common at all. I think he just sat on the lot until somebody got interested. Window sticker had Fredericksburg Texas, McLane Ford on it. Somebody at the dealership said WTH? Ship to Texas and I finally got it.

Was not 203 days but was a long time as its my company truck and NEED it.

I have an old, stainless Jaguar (leaping cat) cigar ashtray that I’ll break out on occasion to enjoy a cigar and a bourbon. Sold the Jag a few years ago (2010 XK-R convertible). Looking for a Jeep cigar ashtray, preferably metal. Is one available? Not looking for one that goes in a vehicle, but some that that would also look great on my desk. Thanks very much.
