Hi. On various pages it says it fits with the new grill but I also read that bolt sends a template and you have to cut the grill? I don’t want to do that to be honest

Are there an after market products that can work for the 2024?

Thanks

I ended up cutting mine. Used a fine tooth hack saw blade. Left minimal “scuff” marks where the plastic was cut. Is it ideal, no, but I like the hood being locked more than I hated cutting the grille. The template provided won’t fit the 24 grille. I did buy on Amazon so I’m not sure if anything has been updated.

Have you tried looking into the stealth hood lock by Lasfit? It's a little more involved with respect to the install than the BOLT hood lock, but I would say that it's better than the BOLT hood lock. I had a BOLT hood lock installed on my JKU, but I opted for the Lasfit hood lock to be able to retain the factory TrailCam on my 4xe.

If you're thinking about going with the stealth hood lock, I can't imagine that the install would be different for the 2024. However, I would check with them regarding final compatibility.

Best of luck!

I am not sure if I can do that …. Urrrg ? just because I am not super handy. I figured i can follow you tube to install, but I assumed it simply fits (no modification needed)

The plastic was surprisingly easy to cut. And they supply a template to follow. I used a similar handle with the hacksaw, give you a little more control. If you’re capable of riveting the bolt lock on cutting the grille will be easy. Just take your time. ??

Lasfit (Gen 2) works with a 2024. The only part where some imagination is required is inside the Jeep. The dash brackets don’t fit the 2024, so zipties and velcro, or bracket fabrication, will be required.

The Bolt lock is a much simpler install. I just preferred the stealth and the ability to use my Jeep fob to lock/unlock the hood that Lasfit provides.

Good to know regarding the lock compatibility with the engine bay! I figured there might have been an issue with the dash bracket for the 2024+ JL models. However, I'm sure Lasfit will have a fully compatible version in the near future, as they would be missing out on the future Wrangler market.

I would agree that the BOLT lock is a simple install (still requires use of a rivet gun though) over the Lasfit stealth lock. The hardest part from what I recall was finding a way to route the tubing from the engine bay to the foot panel, but YouTube came to the rescue on how to go about this.

Glad you mentioned that the stealth lock works via remote keyless entry. Since the lock doesn't require physical locking/unlocking, I forgot that it functions that way.

I should also mention that mounting the control module in the foot panel/front dash area as intended makes it a little harder for those that use a security bypass cable to utilize JScan.

All-in-all, after experiencing both the BOLT and Lasfit hood locks, I would continually opt for Lasfit. The design and functionality was well thought out that it's a shame that it doesn't come as an option in a buildout.

Has anyone found or devised a better solution vs using the T-Tap and cutting into the factory wire?

@Jackiemohro If you have a Dremel tool, using that with a plastic cutting wheel is also a good option for cutting out a portion of the grille insert. For me, if I had to use a hack saw, even a small one, I would be hesitant at trying to cut the grille insert.

Best of luck with whichever route you decide!

I tried the Lasfit and it did not work, the under dash bracket is not compatible with the 2024. I also could not bring myself to cut my grill, which eliminated the Bolt! I ended up getting one of the knock-offs from Amazon.

It has it's own key that is almost 4" long, but it works and I lock the key in the glove box. No cutting was required, the key fits right through one of the openings and right into the tumbler!

Probably not the same quality as the Bolt model, but still a deterrant to the casual thief!

Note, I do attach that huge key to the key ring for my huge key fob when leaving it anywhere for service so it doesn't get lost, and I also provide instructions on how to get under the hood.

This has worked well for me thus far.

I just installed Lasfit in my MY2024 and do agree that their dash brackets don’t fit the ‘24.

I had to dremel their button/emergency release bracket to adapt it. For the manin controller I used zipties and velcro and found a place for it under the dash. Maybe not the most elegant solution, but solid and workable nonetheless.

But yes, I was a bit disappointed that I had to do all that, but took it as a challenge ?

Being just a non-modded Sahara owner—is there a downside to using one of the locking hood latches?

Thank you!!!!! I will get that one then instead (just returned the Bolt today). I feel anything is better than nothing to make the „casual“ thief to leave my beauty alone.

For me, I just like the look of the original ones much better (vs the ones with the lock). The hood lock seems more invisible.

Agree, but also have the front cam and seems the hood locks are a lot simpler. Just begun to think about engine compartment and security. Thanks.

If it helps, here is a picture of the Amazon one installed on my 2024 Willys:

Hindsight being what it is, I probably should have painted the lock cylinder and the two bolts black so they wouldn't show like the silver does!
