Currently I'm on 2.5 inch cheap lift with 37" tires. I have often wondered if the spare and its size had anything to do with it. This was never a problem in the 2.5 years prior to lift and tires.
The blind spot sensors are located in the outer black blob on the rear brake light. They aim to the side, not backwards. The size of the spare tire - really how low it rides and how much it sticks out - affects the backup sensors.

Been a bit but I looked into the easy stuff first. Passenger side door connection pin. Hope this is the culprit.

Nothing quite like turning your head and looking. My dad always taught me never trust technology when driving a vehicle, always turn and look. Since I'm already going to turn and look, never understood the purpose of having technology that yells at me every time someone's in my blind spot. I already know they're there, because I'm looking and I'm always paying attention to who's around me on the road. Especially if I'm changing lanes. Seems like a kind of unnecessary feature for lazy people if you ask me.

Sorry if this doesn't help, maybe what I'm saying is: get rid of it, it's a dumb feature.

There have been times when I've looked, then a motorcycle doing 40 or 50 above the limit pops into my blind spot from a far lane. If I was 30 years younger I might see everything in every lane at all times, but that's no longer my reality.

Its been turned of for months but I would like the items installed to work regardless if I use them or not. So Im more on the hunt to see if I can fix it more than the usage.

Same issue as OP. Comes on randomly, but every trip; sometimes just one mirror is illuminated, sometimes both. Researched the shi# out of it, and hit up another Forum member who posted similar issue. He told me that after much trial and error at the dealer, it turned out to be a bad BSM 'module'. From what I can tell, the 'module' is in the rear tail light, both sides appear to have one. I think the cost was like $150 for the part. But, I took it to the dealer cuz 'was' still under 36k warranty, figured get them to pay/fix. I tried to lead them towards the module as the issue, but I think they ordered a new mirror assembly, which prob won't correct the issue, but I have an appointment next week to get the part put on, I'll update this thread and let you know the outcome, not holding my breath at all.. I'm sure it'll be a few trips to get it fixed. But they're decent folks and trying, so there's that. I'lll prob end up giving up on taking it there and wasting time and just order one new module and start with one side and if no fix, insert the new module into the other..

to be continued....

Ive been waiting but the pins that were pictured seem to have fixed the issue. Been 3 days and no errors.
We shall wait and see.

Typically happens for me when I start the car in the garage and objects are too close to my Jeep. I will pull out of garage and then turn off/on the Jeep and it clears the issue.
Only false alarms for me, annoying false alarms on my 18, doing left turns with two left turn lanes, that thing screams.

I found those pins Tuesday the 8th and repositioned them. Since then it has worked. No issues with fingers crossed it will stay that way. Ill return back to this thread and update soon.

Such a POS plug, would think they could have designed something more robust. Like a twist lock plug or something.

I dont remember having this issue with the JK but the cam lock I would have figured to prevent a bent or mis positioned tab such as this. If the tab was bent the cam wouldn't lock in.
In the past I have been rushed to get the doors back on before Monday for work so very easy to mis this on my part.

We have a similar issue with our BSM. Our issue is the system is blowing the fuse immediately, so it looks like there is a short in the system somewhere. Our dealership has tested everything in the rear of our Jeep, and now they need to get behind the dash.

So its been 11 days with no issues. The blind spot has working in all of the conditions I could plan for. Rain-dusty-windy and I purposely did not wash the jeep to have it dirty since. We are starting to see heavy downpours and even flooded streets and no matter what I have done since I repositioned those pins the monitor has worked as designed.
For me currently it seems to be fixed.
