Bestop Trektop NX Tailgate bar seal issue

I installed the bestop trektop NX on my 2022 Sahara 4xe. There is a small gap (about a centimeter) between the tailgate bar seal and the tailgate when the rear window is attached. When the rear window isn’t attached, the tailgate bar seal and the tailgate align correctly. It would appear the gap is being caused by the tension from the rear window pulling the tailgate bar away from the tailgate.



I have contacted bestop and sent pictures. The initial replies were that I installed the tailgate bar backwards. After sending more pictures confirming it was installed correctly, I was finally able to get someone of the phone that showed the pictures to a supervisor. This person indicated that the material might need time in the sun to stretch. Following this call, I received an email stating:



“Thank you for the photos. I'm having my quality engineer take a look at this top, For me to see that nothing is wrong with it . We have to install top on our Jeep, and see if we get the same problems you are getting I'll let you know what they say, but this could take a while, but I'll keep you informed.”



I am curious if anyone else has had this issue and whether the material needs time to stretch or whether there is an issue with the tailgate bar and it needs to be replaced. In the meantime, I have used shower door molding to correct the seal issue without any leak issues.

While I haven't seen this particular issue, many have needed a little "stretch" time for new tops to fit correctly.

I've got the same issue. Purchased a Bestop Trektop and the bar is installed correctly and without the window attached the tailgate and the bar mate as expected. When I run the window into the channel and try again the window applies so much tension to the bar that it pulls the bar up a half inch or so, leaving a gap at the tailgate.

Keep us posted on if you hear back from Bestop. I'm going to email them as well and see what I can find out.

I would suggest sending pictures of the issue with the email and calling customer service to get a case number set up. It is going on 3 weeks since I contacted them, multiple calls and emails, still have yet to receive an answer on how to fix the problem. I received an email was two days ago advising me that someone would contact me yesterday. No one did. I plan on calling tomorrow. In my experience, the customer service department is slow to reply to emails due to being very busy. I have gotten better responses via the phone. Hopefully they move faster with you.

@Bestop Trektop Slantback has had the same issue. Been on for over 2 years in the Florida sun, it’s not stretching anymore. 1/4”-1/2” gap between bar seal and tailgate.
