Currently with State Farm. No mod coverage at the moment. Have about 15k of mods I need to add. Looking to price shop around. I know rates are different for home zip and record, but before I dive straight in can people comment on how mod coverage is with the major carriers? Specifically looking at
Progressive
Geico
Usaa

(I know State Farm is good, but I’m also paying a ton with them already)

A have Allstate, my rates have doubled in the past two years. No coverage for Mods. No tickets, accidents or claims, for probably 20 years. Excellent Credit. Policy to be bundled with home owner policy. I’m going to change when current policy expires. I got a quote from USAA, almost as expensive as Allstate. Progressive is about what Allstate was two years ago. Seriously considering switching to Progressive.

In the process of moving from American Family to State Farm. Although the insurance cost on my 2020 Recon will be similar to what AF charges, the cost for my house, another property, blanket umbrella, and my BMW IX50 are between 20% and 40% less. I’ve been a loyal AF customer for years but increases the last two years have been stupid high. The straw the broke the camel’s back was the insurance on the BMW….State Farm is $750 every six months, AF is $1,350. Clean driving record, retired, living in suburbs, and high credit score.

I suspect any carrier with a lot of exposure to the hurricanes will have large increases next year.

Just a thought to consider...IMO there is more to consider than premium cost when shoppimg for insurance. $ IS important but so is service after the sale.

- Are claims handled quidkly and to the client's satisfaction?
- Do you have an assigned agent to call with questions or to shepherd claims thru the process or are you calling an 800 number and getting a different person each time?
- Does your agent keep your coverage up to date in terms of inflation, suggesting other changes, etc?

Good luck to you.

I’ve never had mods covered under insurance. That being said, I went from USAA to Progressive due to major price increases on both home and auto after being a customer for 20 years. You would probably be better off investing what you would put towards mod insurance.

I’m sure agents are different , some good , some bad. I might as well not have an agent at Allstate. I recently traded vehicles and called to update the policy with the new vehicle. I was referred to the website. After I made the change I needed proof of insurance. I took it upon myself to use the online chat feature and a very knowledgeable person emailed me proof of insurance forms and waited to make sure I received and printed them out before ending the chat.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I just switched to State Farm on Friday. two vehicles and our house. I received better coverage lower deductibles and save $170 a month by switching away from Libery Mutual.
