Bearing failure. Kinda.

So after doing 3 sets of gears on different axles on my Jeep, I thought I'd spoil myself with one of them fancy bearing puller tools. It arrived in the mail, and I put it to use. Didn't read the instructions. How hard can it be?

Well this is what happens when you don't read the instructions. I didn't put the race on, nor did I tighten the inner 2 holder things against the race or bearing. Those with the tool will might know what I'm talking about.

Yep. With pullers always double check what edge you’re pulling against and make sure you’re not pulling a bearing apart or a race that’s going to smash the bearings into another interference fitting race. ID or OD. Nice set of pullers though. You just ripped apart the bearing. No big deal, you should have another bearing anyway if your pulling it. I just got an SKF set for larger C3 radial bearings where it inserts into the race like one o the balls and pulls both races at once for inaccessibility issues. Straight magical for certain applications. Love fancy tools.
