My front passenger side axle seal has been leaking and I decided to order the parts and fix it. I was able to get the seal out and as I was cleaning up the tube for the new parts I noticed the intermediate shaft had a lot of movement. So I pulled the clip and removed the shaft to see what was going on. The shaft looked good but the bearing had a lot of movement then I’ve ever seen in a bearing. I went a head and ordered a new one. The Jeep has 73k miles on the clock so maybe it’s time. Does anyone know if this bearing is supposed to have play in it? Also there is a grey oring that looks to be molded into the axle tube. It is not removalable or it’s not shown on any of the part schematics. I’m assuming this is used to keep the bearing from being pressed to far into the axle tube as there is no machining in the tube itself. So essentially if that oring was not there you could push the bearing to far into the tube.
