Hi, while trying to figure out an issue with my batteries my young son placed the battery charger on the main battery, the wrong way. I noticed it after about 3 minutes. I had a 40 watt fused jumper between N1 and N2, that blew along with one of the fuses on the fuse array. So long story short, I have replaced both batteries and the fused array. I planned on replacing the batteries this weekend anyway and taking out the jumper. So now everything works correctly except my radio, it turns on but no sound, not for the radio or phone. I have tried both hard and soft UConnect reboots. Yes I have checked the HIFI amp fuse and it's fine. It was a nice little teaching moment for my son.

My wife's batteries crapped out and one of her coworkers arrived to help her with a jump before I got there and the guy momentarily hooked up the jumper cables bass ackwards! Fortunately nothing was damaged (it was a couple years ago at this point). One other point to tell your son about is one frequesntly comes across vehicles where the cable colors are wrong because someone has replaced a neg black cable with a red pos one and vice verse for various reasons so ALWAYS look at the battery polarity markings! Anyway have you disconnected the batteries and let thing sit unpowered the re-connect and see if the radio gets happy again?

To quote the general from the movie " Wargames " " I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would work "

If you didn't try it you don't know then do you! I just went through this with a friends JK that wouldn't start due to a security system issue. Everything tried didn't work until the battery was disconnected and then it started and has been fine for over a month now.

How did your son hook up the battery that caused this ?

He put the neg on the pos, which in turn blew out the 40 watt fuse on my N1 to N2 jumper, blew out one of high amp fuses on the Z fuse and as it turns out blew out my amp
Ahh .. reversed the polarity . I was asking because that I understand there is a whole process for the JT/JL with the dual battery setup that is different from a typical setup. I've been told that there is several ways to screw it up... time to hit the manual for a refresher.

Thanks

Were those the only probs? Was it an aftermarket amp? I just did this by accident for <10 sec by accidental jumper cable swap, killed the Jeep but not sure on the damage extent yet..Waiting on dealer repairs
