I think that battery cover is there for a reason. If Jeep removed the engine cover due to costs like many say and the battery cover, didn’t do anything I’m sure Jeep would get rid of it and save the money.

A Google search reveals everyone asks this about it on many makes and models and nobody has an answer. Fortunately, I know. The battery cover obviously gives the vehicle .003 more mpg, thus meets CAFE standards. If you remove it AND disable your auto start stop, expect the feds at your door.
