Great read. BTW, does the LP4 have low/high beam? I had a set recently that had that feature, but it doesnt show up on the website now. Cant go wrong with LP6s!

Hey @CodeRed,
With our LP4 we do not have a high/low feature on this Aux light. The LP4 will just have a daytime running backlight as well as a beam light.

The lights that will have a high/low feature will be our LP6 and our LP9 Pros. All of our LP series aux lights will also have our IPT side lights to give you a 200-degree spread of useable LED light. If you have any questions about our product, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Best,
Bill

... and they'll expect you to buy their more expensive lockout harness to install these because they're too cheap to put the hi/lo relay inside the pod.

Jeep Wrangler JL Baja Designs LP9 install? ead5f0fd-24d2-4aff-93bc-0d1e22d12595-jpe

I seem to always respond to BD posts, but I love my lp9 pros. IMO they do not block the headlights at all.

Also, I didn't use the BD wiring harness, and it was super cheap to build, $20-30. I have it set up with a relay wired to Aux1 and the regular vehicle high beams. Aux1 turns the lp9 low beam on and turning on the high beams via the steering wheel stalk it turns on the high beams for lp9s when Aux1 is already pushed. It does mean you need the lights on to get the high beams for the lp9s to work, but I only used one aux switch. The relays are on the passenger fender so the wire runs are pretty short. I tapped into the oem high beams via the headlight wiring harness.

My post referenced above lays out a relay topology that allows using aux switches with a safety lockout and about $10-20 worth of parts/wire if people want to DIY and not tie it to headlight high-beams.

Hey @Tikenator

With the LP9 being a large light up front, as @ormandj has mentioned. We do have other options that will work well for some front-facing lights. I will link below a few options to check out. Please let me know if you have any other questions about our product. If you'd like to get a quote started, please feel free to reach out.

Thanks! Glad it wasn't me! Lol. I've got a Gladiator now in the stable and I'll be looking for some new BD lighting at some point. I'll probably wind up with a set of LP6's, like on my JL, but I'd love to have the LP9's in spite of their size. They are badass!

Hey @Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

With our LP6/LP9 sold in singles, they will not have a harness included. Any of our lights that do come in pairs will be provided with one. With a hi/lo relay inside, we would still have to add cost to that feature type. We created this lockout harness for users who want a plug-and-play option and take the guesswork of making their own. You definitely have the option of making your own harness. We want to comfort people that something is out there for them if needed. If you are looking for other harness types, we offer an on/off harness and up-fitters to be utilized with the aux switch you may have in your vehicle already.

Former customer and electrical engineer here. I've had several vehicles with your pods. The harness is around $100 per two lamps. A relay built into your electronics as a component wouldn't cost you nearly that much, and would be the responsible thing to do, rather than allow your system to overload itself - a sign of poor and reckless engineering. The harness is not only overpriced, but over complicates what would be a simple install on a Jeep direct to the aux line. My aux switches could more than power the pods directly. Instead, you want me to buy this overpriced harness over and over again and run a bunch of spaghetti garbage under the hood just to power your lights. No thanks. Let me know when you do the right thing and redesign your circuit boards to have a simple protective circuit built in to do the job of this otherwise awful design.
