I took my 2019 Moab in to the Jeep dealership for my first oil change at 4000 miles. When it was ready the service writer said they updated by head unit computer. I thanked them and left. I realized that I couldn’t get my phone to pair and was missing apps including navigation so I came back. The service manager took it back saying it would just take a few minutes. An hour later I saw him and asked about my Jeep. He looked around and pointed outside saying where it was. This time I didn’t leave the lot and found that I had no navigation and phone wouldn’t pair. He said the first piece of equipment they used to update was broken and didn’t work and the second one did but I must have a bad head unit. They have to keep my vehicle and hook it up with Star as the head unit might be bad. Everything worked fine before they decided to update my computer. They cannot let my vehicle leave the lot once they pull the unit out of the dash. I said order a new unit and I will bring it back in to have the old unit replaced. I was told they can’t let it go with a bad head unit. The service writer was great and they gave me a stripped down Jeep to drive. I don’t understand why they have to keep my vehicle and all they say is that is a Chrysler’s decision. I call BS. I offered to pay for overnight shipping as well. I have had numerous cars during my 76 years of life and have never run in to this type of situation as my Jeep runs fine just no phone and missing apps. In addition, I was advised that it could take a week or more. Maybe “Jeep Cares” can explain.

seems they are a bit stupid with the radios, they treat them as if it was some protected type thing, its just a radio, when will they realize that.
Oh, maybe they realize most people are trashing the crap radios (5") and upgrading even though they say it isnt possible.
I think the Hugo GV had a better radio than the 5" and that was marketed as a throw away car.

Well hopefully it's fixed.:like: And as @Fatman says, they act like the radio is top secret NASA technology. I gave up trying to upgrade mine. I'll either live with the 5" or fork out the big bucks to Infotainment (1k) for the 7":(

The problem was not just the radio but the computer that controls the radio, Nav and other apps. The 8.4 system seems to be tied into the cars computer system itself. I’m just glad it’s fixed without waiting for a new system.

It’s not just a radio though, the uconnect is heavily integrated with the vehicles controls and problems with the uconnect system could lead to major electronic failure of the vehicle.
