Thanks...so all in your looking at about $500 labor + $200 for Artec truss kit to truss front axle?
I think the armor kit is around $230? It’s has everything. Labor will depend on your local market. We’re at $100 an hour.

Thanks...$1k to truss the front axle is more than I would've thought to consider it cheap insurance. I'd rather get RCV's for close to that price. You?

Ideally you’d get both! There’s plenty of folks lined up willing to do it for less but this is really one of those “you get what you pay for” and most shops don’t have real welders that understand pre and post heat and how to correctly weld cast steel. These are an honest days work. The welding is the easy part and by far the quickest. It’s all the prep that drags it out and even pulling the axles takes an hour easy when you account for having to remove everything.

Take that $1k plus the cost of RCV's and a gear swap and you're well on your way to a complete aftermarket assy
Still seems like a good bit cheaper to regear and add RCV'S to d44s vs. buying d60's + brakes, driveshafts, wheels. Aren't d60s easily twice the cost when it's all said and done?

Parts to upgrade both my axles comes to less than just the front Dynatrac ProRock or even Dana Ultimate 44. The labor might bounce that up to the price of the Dana Ultimate D44:

https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/...front-advantek-axle-assembly-w-4-88-ratio-eld

Axle Build Up
------------------------------------------------------
Dana Spicer 10044799 Differential Cover for Front Dana 44 Axles for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL - $160.99
Dana Spicer 10040651 Differential Cover for Dana 44 Rear Axles for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL - $144.99
Yukon Dana 44 4.88 Rear Ring and Pinion Set w/ D44 Upgrade - JL - $327.46
Yukon Dana 44 4.88 Front Ring and Pinion Set w/ D44 Upgrade - JL - $312.00
EVO Manufacturing EVO-245 Dana 44 M210 Advantec Truss and C2 End Forging Axle Kit for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL & JL Unlimited - $209.99
Dana 44 Advantek Rear Left and Right E Locker Axle Shaft - $399.98
Right Rear $199.991 x Dana Spicer Dana 44 AdvanTEK Rear Chromoly Axle Shaft M220 Right - JT/JL Rubicon DAN10043169
Left Rear $199.991 x Dana Spicer Dana 44 AdvanTEK Rear Chromoly Axle Shaft M220 Left - JT/JL Rubicon DAN10043168
Dana Spicer AdvanTEK Wide E Locker Front Axle Shaft Assembly - JL - $914.00
Parts = $2,469.41

This would be a bit more with RCV's no doubt and I think now I'd rather the Artec bits, but I'm still not sold on needing all this goodness. My heavy foot may get me into trouble, but then it may justify D60's and suspension more suited to desert running.

I'm going to hold out for a desert rated Wrangler and and be easy on my girl until then. :dunno:

total side note, not exactly sure on the price difference. But why doesn’t everyone use Dana advantek gears when regearing? Maybe my guy was blowing smoke up my ass but the advantek gears are stronger than aftermarket

Good stuff...adding RCV's to the front would be a significant upgrade vs. only adding chromoly shafts. I think your easily looking at $12k+ swapping to d60s with brakes/driveshafts....most people also buy different wheels. Deduct from that whatever you sell takeoff d44s for...going rate seems to be $3k.

If you aren't going bigger than 37" or 38" tires, I imagine a regear + RCV's in front and chromally shafts in rear would likely be a solid long term platform. I bet you could get all that bought and installed for less than $4k.

D60's are much more than I need, so yes a bit of upgrade will be the way to go. My dilemma is the truss. Do I really need that? I'll be regearing and likely pay a shop for that. Might as well get it all done at once. I do want LCA skids but welded or bolt on? lol

Never ending.

You should truss the front and rear IMO. For me, I've met too many wheelers that threw in the towel fighting the 44's short comings. I'm saving for axle swap, one and done.
The plus side to buying an axle is that you can get one with a better caster and pinion angles for your new ride height. I'd love a 6.4L Hemi to go with a long arm coilover suspension as well... but I don't have a $100k to throw down.

I'll just step lightly and try not to break her.

How big of a tire do you plan on running and how hard are you going to be wheelin? For me, I dont think a truss is worth an additional $1k if I'm wheelin halfway responsible on 37s or 38s with RCV's up front.

Yeah I watch his stuff. He's a great fabricator, with more skills than I have to be able to do tons on the cheap.

I do agree on weight, in that I don't want to keep adding any that I don't have to. Another reason I'm not using bead locks and keeping to 315/70R17's vs running up to 37's.

Nice video but not much depth on D44's and nothing about stronger JL D44's which is pertinet to us. I might have to think more on 44 axles like Dynatrac or Currie. D60 have huge pumpkins and are heavy beasts, maybe not needed for my 5,200 lbs. JLR with 37's and 3.6 motor. I'm not ready to do or have done a swap with this Virus still raging. As long as I'm setting here :computerrage: It's all good.
BTW, I saw this young man wheeling in a LiteBrite YouTube video. His Jeep really made short work of trail sections the LiteBrite Wrangler seemed to struggle on. In fact LiteBrite detroyed their rear driveline and his 2dr. blew right though that section. He's built a nice little Jeep for sure and has skills.
Yeah...prob because Dirt Life guy was running proper 40" stickies and Litebrite is still running mediocre milestars that are really a hybrid tire....no comparison on tougher climbs like that.
