You make good points.
I don't do heavy crawling, so I don't know what I should do.
I truss and gusset the front and about to truss the rear soon. If you don't do any hard trails, I think you would be fine without.

They really are cheap insurance and you can't go wrong to be extra safe. I did it when I did the re gear to save some labor cost.

They don't cost a lot if it makes you feel better.
