What should’ve been an easy bolt off bolt on has royally ruined my afternoon/evening.

Bought the Teraflex adjustable trackbar, took off the OEM one, measured and adjusted Teraflex to factory suggested length

Went to bolt on, as expected the frame (drivers side) was a bit far away for the bolt to go through.

Worked solo, so I couldn’t have someone turn the wheel. Instead used a ratchet strap from the drivers side frame to the axle. Put the bolt in and tightened everything down.

I just went for a test drive and everything is wonky:
-Traction control light is flashing
-To drive straight wheel has to be turned 2* to the left
-Driver’s side wheel is approximately 16” from frame and passenger front is approximately 15”

No clue what I did right or wrong, any advice welcome!

Lengthen the track bar and that should allow the passenger wheel measurement to grow. Dash lights are on because the steering wheel is not centered. Loosen the drag link sleeve and turn it until the wheel centers. If you twist the wrong way it gets worse, no big deal just reverse direction.

The length is not equal to factory one you took off. You need to adjust track bar to center the axle. Once centered you need to adjust drag link to center the steering wheel.

Like others have already mentioned, this has nothing to do with the Teraflex track bar itself.

Your steering wheel is not centered after you changed out the track bar.
The vehicle traction control systems detects the off-centered steering wheel and thinks you are in a turn and the tires are slipping and is confused.

If you had let a professional shop install it, they will do an alignment immediately after to correct it. Since you installed it yourself, you will have recenter the steering wheel yourself.

Loosen the pinch bolt on the drag link and turn the collar sleeve to recenter the steering wheel. I always forget which direction is which so it's a trial and error for me, but you get the point.

Going through all of this right now. I'm playing with my track bars little by little to center front and rear because of my OCD. Problem is because of work I'm doing it at night and it's not done after two nights. It's passable to some but not me.

Anyway, after adjusting front track bar my steering wheel was cocked to the left. I got the service traction control warning and just adjusted the drag link. It's still off by 1 degree but it'll have to do till this weekend.

Anyone know how long the warning stays on before clearing itself? I have the Tazer lite and could clear it that way I suppose.

Originally I had adjusted the track bar but it wouldn’t fit into the frame bolt location as it was too long. When I adjusted it to a shorter length it was the same as the stock one; however I had attempted to turn the wheel to move the mounting point closer as Teraflex instructed.

I considered going to a shop and having them do it, but figured it would be easy given it was two bolts. If any of the tutorials would have mentioned the drag link part I would’ve had it professionally done.

thanks to all for the feedback, I’ll be taking another crack at it tomorrow

It’s super easy to adjust the drag link, I wouldn’t touch the track bar length unless your axles aren’t centered.

Look here, loosen the red arrow with a 15mm, and hand turn the yellow either clockwise or counter-clockwise to re-center steering wheel, make half-turns at first to test it out, dial that down to quarter turns or less for finer adjustments. Don’t bother tightening the bolt until you are completely satisfied.

The CEL light should turn off after a day or two after you drive it around with the steering centered.

everything that is mentioned above is correct. Would be much easier if you had a helper to turn the wheel for you to get the bolt in there on the track bar but I get it because I do it all myself as well.

If you wrap a piece of painters tape at the center point of your steering wheel you can make adjustments and quickly view it from the front of your Jeep without going around towards the window to look. Sometimes it will look center but when you drive down the street it could still be slightly off. So I’ll make a slight adjustment until it’s perfectly centered.

Excellent thank you for this insight, I’ll be sure to have this post open later today.

My axle was already off center when I went to put the track bar on. What I believe happened is when I ratcheted the axle and frame; I pulled it the wrong way thus causing the axle to be fully pulled off center.

theoretically, all I will have to do today, is lengthen the track bar by half an inch and then pull on the passenger side axle/frame and that should even things out.

The teraflex track bar is adjustable on the Jeep so you won't have to take it off, just loosen the pinch bolts and adjust the nut. Once the axle is centered be sure to torque the pinch bolts to 60 ft lbs. Then like said above go and adjust your drag link.
