I couldn't agree more. My dealer told me about 6-8 weeks, assuming thats from when the builds started. Puts me somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas. If it starts going longer, I will be annoyed, but there isn't anything I can do about it unless I find exactly what I want already built. Knowing a build code won't change anything. If it is waiting on shipping, what am I going to do, tell the dealer I'll buy more Jeeps so the truck ships? You know, I think I am better off not knowing. Never signed up for Jeep Garage. My dealer told me when I ordered on 9/22 that it would take three to four months. Thanksgiving would put it at three months, Christmas at 4 months. So I figured if I get it before Christmas I'll be happy.
I did however sign up on the cryptostickers. So early Tuesday morning I got an email with my build sheet. Now I am waiting on an email that the window sticker has been issued. As a result I now check daily for the window sticker, OK, actually multiple times daily.
Watching my future Wrangler sit in every stage along the way would drive me absolutely insane! I understand everyone who has signed up and gets to watch their new toy along the way, but for me, sometimes not knowing is better.
I can't help but think when I read some of these posts that some people will never be satisfied, causing themselves needless heartache. I imagine people yelling at their computer screens because nothing has changed in their build in 3 hours. It seems like some people are concerned about their welds or steering but want FCA to just gloss over or skip inspections. People are being overly critical of a complex process they don't understand. I get it, people want their new toy, but need to have realistic expectations also. I do understand the frustration for people who had 2018 "complications". Ordering a $35k-$55k Jeep isn't the same as ordering the latest gadget from Amazon.
It would be great if you could check the status online, but I guess that might set some people up for disappointment also. FCA doesn't build all the parts themselves. They often have to wait on shipments, and if a vendor misses a shipment, things will slide.
There is no sense is stressing out about something I can't control.
