The autopark on My wifes 2023 wrangler willys 2door isn't working correct. If you turn it off and restart
It . When you open the door it wont let it move . And it says on the screen AUTOPARK ENGAGED SHIFT TO P THEN SHIFT TO GEAR. Ok fine. Put park and shut door and it says AUTOPARK DISENGAGED. But after you go
To park and close the door and unbuckle seatbelt and then open door , it still moves and the autopark says AUTOPARK NOT ENGAGED. And still rolls. the only way to make it work correctly is cut the jeep off and reststart, but it will only work the 1 time. Of any of this makes sense lol

If the Jeep is rolling away when it's in park, you probably have an entirely different issue. You might want to get things checked out. The autopark is meant for when you get out in gear so it won't drive away on you.

But it looks like you said you put it in park, close the door, unbuckle the seat belt and then open the door again...
Maybe you're just confusing the system?

Edit: I drive a manual, this is way way way out of my wheelhouse.

I'm not sure what you're wanting it to do here? You want it to automatically go to park when you open the door, then you reset it by following the directions, then you want to open the door and have it go to park again? And so on?

Maybe you don't understand what the system is for? It's a last ditch safety feature to keep your Jeep from rolling over someone, not a system that puts it in park for you automatically every time you get out.

Mine works the same way as yours. It only goes once per key cycle. I assume so it doesn't drive the driver crazy if they are doing something weird that requires them to repeated open the door while driving (deliveries or whatever).

Just get a Seat Belt Extender Pro’s 3” rigid for Wranglers, stick it in and leave it. Auto Park disabled for ~$20. Best 20 bucks spent on mine.

Not rolling in park. When i open door or shift with door open it moves like normal. Only does the autopark 1 time . Until you turn off jeep and restart
That's probably by design, honestly.

Definitely. I'm sure they don't want you to come to rely on it as your primary method of shifting to Park like it seems OP wants to do?

The user manual is very clear with several warnings about this being a backup system that is not to be relied on.

Unless I understood what was said incorrectly, it sounds like it works as intended. If you have the door open and put it in gear, it puts you in park. However, if you move it to park then back to gear it will allow movement. Mine does the same. It assumes you know what you are doing when you go back to park then back to gear after autopark engages.

I think OP wants it to keep autoparking multiple times in a row, for some reason? They never came back to clarify though.

Gotcha. Well as much as the OP may want that, its not how it was designed lol. I love technology but too many people depend on it to do everything for them.

You are not a stupid person…. Autopark is a stupid feature. Autopark is a place to leave your vehicle when you are at the airport. Should never be a feature on a Jeep…

Jeep started doing it after a Grand Cherokee killed Anton Yelchin from the Star Trek movie.

If it keeps even a few people from getting horrifically crushed to death, I feel it's probably worth the occasional annoyance.

If saving lives was the priority, then there shouldn’t be a high center of gravity, lifted vehicle with big tires and bad brakes with poor MPG and aerodynamics.

I am not a part of the mentality that everything should be made with “features” that will save only one life. Even if it is mine.

You've got to look at the bigger picture. Lots of people drive these things all over the world.

How would you feel if your wife took the Jeep to the store with your screaming kids in the back seat. She's distracted and in a bad mood from the kids screaming. She shuts off the engine, but forgets to put it in park before she gets out to unload the kids. She gets little Susie out, sets her down and walks around the front to get Tommy out on the other side.

Well, during those 15 seconds, little Susie walked behind the Jeep that was very slowly rolling backwards. She was pinned between the back bumper and a light pole and crushed to death....

Never would have happened with this safety feature.

I'll never understand people who bemoan things like this *because it would never benefit THEM*.

If you want to drive a metal deathtrap, then don't buy a vehicle made with modern engineering built into it.
