Yes. That is how I figure they work. One night only. Every other time the dash indicator does not come on.
Flashing your highs at someone disables it. You need to push the stalk forward again, at which point you'll see a message on the dash saying it's enabled.

Unless I read incorrectly, the high beams have to be turned on, they do not turn on with regular headlights on on their own. That is what I think.
Could be true on a Wrangler though luckily mine doesn't have that option. I was mentioning a non-Wrangler where it's a feature turned on by default. On a Honda:

1) Turn vehicle on to RUN
2) Set light stalk to AUTO
3) Hold stalk back for 40 seconds until the dash flashes. This turns the feature ON or OFF

My 2024 has them. They work great about 85% of the time. I live in an area that is forest and mountains. The roads curve. So sometimes it sees a car ahead, turns off high beams, then that car goes behind trees or a hill, then turns on again and it keeps flashing on and off.

Another fun fact I found. The auto high beams do not seem to engage under a specific speed. When off roading at night, I could not get high beams to turn on unless I disabled the feature in settings, then I could turn them on.

I have this feature in my 24 and it works flawlessly. 100% of the time, it turns the high beams on and off when incoming traffic appears etc.. i love it, but i dont need it that much, only when i am traveling

The feature can also be completely disabled

I enabled mine via JScan and they work fantastically. They immediately spot vehicles and almost never mistake normal lights for car headlights.

I’ve owned a lot of cars with this feature and the performance is so consistent that I’m sure they all use the same module/programming. The progressiveness is just a function of the headlights, some car manufacturers care to implement it and some don’t.
Did you purchase the option or the hardware is already there and just an software setting ?

It’s there if you have adaptive cruise control. Stingelantis wants you to pay extra for it by packaging it with blind spot monitoring (crazy it’s not standard on Sahara in 2024) but it’s just a JScan configuration. Plus you can adjust the speeds at which it comes on and off.

To be visible one must be seen. There is never enough light pollution! Using a Tazer can make it so the high beams stay on with the fog lamps for maximum brilliance!

For automatic high beams to work you need to do 3 things
  • Enable in the UConnect system
  • Turn the light dial near the steering column to automatic
  • Push the turn signal stalk forward to enable/disable
I usually keep the jeep setup such that the first two items are always set. The lights turn on and off automatically as ambient light, or wiper operation dictates. When driving in urban areas, I will pull back on the turn signal stalk to flash high-beams at oncoming traffic, and to turn the auto high beam feature off. When travelling in less populated and darker areas, I will push the stalk forward to enable automatic high-beams.

What he said. It takes a little while to get comfortable with this new-fangled computerized lights :movember: I would have mine enabled, then inadvertently disable the auto function when I flashed someone or dim them temporarily for over-reflective road signs (annoying). Now whenever I touch the high-beam stalk, I look for the message telling me the auto high beam is enabled or disabled.

I turned that feature off completely almost immediately. Like many others, living in the city had that thing turning off and on constantly. Often not fast enough, so I was blinding people. I already blind people sitting up high above sedan/coupe windshield level. Did not need to add to their pain...
