Nah, get a new transmission on their dime then drive it for a few hundred thousand miles.Yeah, looks bad...
What would you do knowing what you know, 3 months from the end of the 5 year warranty? Trade it in?

Ok. I was expecting you to tell me to get rid of it asap. lolNah, get a new transmission on their dime then drive it for a few hundred thousand miles.
It wouldn't scare me to drive it until it has a consistent warning light.Ok. I was expecting you to tell me to get rid of it asap. lol
My main concern isn't if it get fixed... It will.... It's the "when" part. I'm off for a 2 months vacation in July and August... If it's not fixed by then my summer is f-ed.
Not sure I will trust this thing for going off road on multi days trips, unless the trans gets replaced. I guess we'll see in about a month...
More likely to fail slowly, set a gear ratio incorrect fault, go to limp mode. You might lose reverse. Not sure if it's possible for it to suddenly fail "catastrophically" and leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere. That's my fear.
Well thanks for the feedback.
Maybe it won’t take long. I had to order one from Mopar for a ‘21 Grand Cherokee 3.6 and they had 3 in stock, got it the next day(I own a transmission shop) First one of these I have seen fail. We installed it,I flashed the TCM and it worked like a charm. Really, really good price too.An update on this. Today the dealer dropped the transmission's oil pan. The oil had a burned smell and they found particules in it. The transmission is toast as predicted. At 70000 km. WTF
They will put in a request for a replacement. The question now is... when will they get it and how much I can drive it until it fails and leaves me stranded somewhere. I have a 2 months vacation starting 8 weeks from now... I have doubts. I guess I'll know more in the next few days. This sucks.
Yeah they told me they had to change one in a Wrangler not so long ago and got it within a week. But the service rep said is depends on models. I guess I'll know more in the next few days once it's approved.Maybe it won’t take long. Hope they're getting their shit together. Maybe you'll get the one I ordered and ended up cancelling. Good to hear they're at least getting around to fixing it.Yeah they told me they had to change one in a Wrangler not so long ago and got it within a week. The dealer had it for 2 days. They were able to see the problem. They dropped the oil pan, the oil had a burned smell and they found particles in it. They took pictures, dumped a scan result (I had no codes though) and whatever else was needed and sent everything to Chrysler/Jeep... like almost 2 weeks ago. With what is documented in my file, there's no way Chrysler/Jeep can say no, but they are still waiting. I'll call again early next week cause this is starting to take too much time for my taste. Meanwhile the Jeep is still running. It's fine for short trips but I need this fixed before my vacation, in 6 weeks. Time is running out, and Chrysler/Jeep aren't helping by taking all the freaking time in the world......Hello! I don't know if you've taken it in or not, but I had this issue with mine. I have a post with a video attached showing what you're describing. Basically it's a bad transmission and I've seen a ton of other JL posts about it too. It's a fight to get it replaced under warranty but you need to do it. If you take a video of it and show it to the dealer and make a case with Chrysler/Jeep cares, it will help. I am waiting on my transmission replacement currently.
Yep, me too! Except they have my jeep hostage and it's been over 40 days. I am in the same boat as you, waiting! The dealer had it for 2 days. They were able to see the problem. Yeah... that sounds bad. WTF are they doing? I don't understand how they can run the business with this kind of shit practices, and not expect customers to run away. That's fucking unacceptable.Yep, me too! Except they have my jeep hostage and it's been over 40 days. I am in the same boat as you, waiting!
They had to diagnose it twice which took AT LEAST 10 days each time. They couldn't replicate the problem. I had to take it back from them overnight to provide a video of the problem I replicated the same day. So it took them another 10 days just to take the transmission off to sent to FCA. I called yesterday for an update and they said their goal was to have it shipped to Chrysler on Monday. I even have a case with Chrysler, which have been insanely unhelpful as well. Just a nuisance at this point.Yeah... that sounds bad. WTF are they doing? I don't understand how they can run the business with this kind of shit practices, and not expect customers to run away. Are you waiting for them to approve the replacement or for the parts?
The transmissions are on backorder, heavily. The last one they got was probably an 8HP75.Yeah... that sounds bad. WTF are they doing? I don't understand how they can run the business with this kind of shit practices, and not expect customers to run away. That's fucking unacceptable.
