The transmissions are on backorder, heavily. The last one they got was probably an 8HP75.
Well they are telling me they can get one. They could be mistaken...maybe it's not the right model. It wouldn't surprise me. That's fucking depressing.

An update on this. Today the dealer dropped the transmission's oil pan. The oil had a burned smell and they found particules in it. The transmission is toast as predicted. At 70000 km. WTF

They will put in a request for a replacement. The question now is... when will they get it and how much I can drive it until it fails and leaves me stranded somewhere. I have a 2 months vacation starting 8 weeks from now... I have doubts. I guess I'll know more in the next few days. This sucks.
This happened to my 24 Rubicon. Had to have transmission replaced. Took 3 weeks to get all parts and complete the install. FYI.

When was that? Was it for a 2.0 or a V6?

Three weeks is more inline with my expectations... but it's been 14 days now and the dealer doesn't even have the green light from Chrysler and they don't want to order parts until they get it. Meanwhile I'm driving the Jeep but it is slowly becoming worse...

UPDATE:
  • Chrysler/Jeep approved the replacement
  • They approved and ordered a rebuilt one, and it is B.O. with no ETA
  • They could order a NEW one... That's in stock according to my dealer. But... they won't. Because of course it's cheaper to get the rebuilt one (they obviously don't care that you have to wait)
  • I'll try and call Chrysler/Jeep tomorrow and see what I can do about that
Also... I tried a 2023 JLU Rubicon V6 8Sp with 10K km on the odo that is for sale at the dealer (they are asking way too much for it).

But the thing is, It exhibits the exact same behavior as mine, but to a lesser extend. To replicate: in manual mode, upshift to a gear that puts the RPM at about 1500.... then throttle to about 40-50% (not full throttle)... I can make it slip maybe 1 out of 5-6 times (mine is close to 80% of the times). Other times it will just grab as it should.

Do they all do this?????

It definitely makes me want to switch to Ford and try out the Bronco. I don't think Jeep deserves the reputation they used to have.
This IS the reputation that Jeep has had for the last 30-40 years since Chrysler bought them. Its gotten a bit worse since the whole FCA/Stellantis M&A activities.

I talked with FCA this morning about my case. Let's see if they do something to speed things up, or not. They said they would help get the parts as fast as possible.

I still would appreciate feedback on this though:

Also... I tried a 2023 JLU Rubicon V6 8Sp with 10K km on the odo...

I tried two different V6 8sp (mine and the 2023 JLUR with 10K km on the odo), and both had the same behavior, more or less. Is this transmission slipping "normal"? Or am I just unlucky enough to have tried another Wrangler with the same issue as mine??

I just got my Jeep back after 6 weeks at the dealership. They changed a valve body. Claimed it was "sticking" not allowing efficient gear changes. I don't know if it was AN issue, but my Jeep feels WORSE. It's not just the first drive anymore, it's a lot of the time now between 3rd and 4th. I got another video of it. It's a 3 day weekend so we have to wait until Tuesday before taking it back. I can't believe I have to do this bullshit over again. Another 6 weeks or longer for a transmission replacement?? AND no loaner! Why not diagnose it correctly in the first place??

It seems "mechanics" are a thing of the past. Now its all "Technicians." If it doesnt have a code they arent sure what to do and then play the part swap game.

The dealer finally got the new transmission this morning, my Jeep is going in this afternoon.

FCA originally ordered a rebuilt ZF and that part was B.O. with a wait time of 3-4 weeks. I called them directly... and they finally ordered a new one. From that point it took 1 week for my dealer to get it.

@HerbertThe2020JL sorry to read about your experience. I expected to have to go though the same process, fortunately we skipped the whole valve body replacement shit show because (I think) they found particles in the oil (and there was a burned smell). At that point I think the only option was to replace the whole thing. Probably saved me a few weeks (and my summer). I hope you'll get it fixed asap.

Generally a rebuild is the go-to unless it is backordered and a new unit is readily available. Push some buttons and you will get the new one.

Edit; just saw you already did that. Good shit.

Will do for sure

Indeed I did and my dealer even recommended me to do it and gave me FCA's phone number. They said it doesn't work all the time, but I guess I was lucky and they had a new transmission in stock in Toronto. The dealer gave me that information so I told FCA that they didn't have a reason to make me wait for a rebuild, other than trying to save a few bucks. I was polite. I just asked for help. It worked.

Let us know how it does after the install.
