Thanks Terry. My main battery must have been low for a while then, that's why the ESS didn't work. It was just really giving me a headache, since it wasn't working when I disconnected the aux, then all of a sudden started working. I was freaking out
You’re welcome. Like I said, it IS confusing, and calling that auxiliary battery and the function the same name just adds to it.

So I can remove the aux battery, and the main battery will handle everything? I always thought the ESS was dependent on the aux battery alone, since it didn't work anymore when I removed the aux. Maybe when I charged the main battery, thats what made it start working?
Yep, I removed my aux and pulled fuse 42 and have had no issues since. I also have a tazer that defaults the ASS to the last status it had so my ASS off button is always pressed.

So its ok to just have the one main battery? I'm guessing it may just not last as long?

It actually may end up lasting longer. A lot of the time the Aux battery becomes a drain on the main battery killing it sooner.

One other trick is to remove the AUX battery and then connect it's positive to the main battery positive and tape off the ground. The Jeep is tricked into thinking everything is fine. Then put your finger in your butt.

@jeremyirick THIS^^^
I'd say a decent amount of main batteries going dead is because the aux went first and drug the main down.

Cause of the change to the negative studs on the I think 21 plus I just taped up the positive when removing my aux and then reconnected the negative at the main so I got the longer stud back. Probably should loop it up and put the fuse back.

What about your butt though?

Still strange that I disconnected the aux a year ago, had the warning light on the dash and when I charged the main battery the other day, now the ESS works, makes sense that it will run off the main battery, but strange that the main battery worked so long, being that it didn't have enough to power the ESS system, but enough to start the jeep for a year haha.
