Looking to upgrade the audio system in my stock 21 JL.

Um, not really. Factory Alpine? If not there is the Alpine upgrade but it's $1400 and add another $400 for the soundbar.

Terra Acoustics has a front soundstage (dash top) that adds tweeters for $250. I'm on the waitlist to order those.

The closest thing to plug and play will be one of the OEM interface's to the OEM radio that will allow you to add aftermarket amps/speakers. I would stop by your local specialty stereo shop and let your ears lead you to what sounds good to you.

How about some Boss wake tower speakers on the rear rollbar and pyle hydra 2 channel... $200 to regain topless midrange and turning to 25 will deafen you...attached kicker speaker wire to rca adaptor in soundbar and ran to amp hidden in sub enclosure.

Very interesting idea on the speakers on the rear roll bars!! I bet you can hear your music on the highway with the top off! Seriously considering this.
