I joined this forum this morning after reading about the audio problems that I have also been dealing with. After reading a few pages on this forum, I called Jeep Support to see if they knew how to fix my problem or could walk me though a restart. They did not. They found 2 recalls unrelated to audio and set up appointment at the dealership for Monday in Silver Spring, MD... they told me they would have someone at the dealership check out the audio problem but it's going to cost $180 for a diagnostics test. I won't be paying for that. The warranty for the audio is expired now, I'm not sure why they would expect me to pay, especially after reading 13 pages on this forum, of people having the same problem that I am. Is this a radio issue? What is the fix? I have no idea what is causing the problem. I don't want to spend money fixing this when it is clearly an electrical issue created by the manufacturer. It feels like Jeep just want to take my money and not take responsibility for these things!

I had the issue this morning. Audio cutting out every 3 seconds
I had this issue after owning my car for 1 week. Two separate issues: 1. the audio cutting out every 2 seconds randomly on car start. One day it would work, one day it wouldn't. 2. the SOS and ASSIST buttons not functioning even though I have a Guardian service plan. I brought it back to the dealership, they flashed it, reloaded software, and seems ok now, but I'm doubtful. Since it is a new car, I'm having them install a new radio in the coming week. Hopefully that fixes the issue, unless its a software issue that won't be addressed till they release the next update next quarter.

This is my first post in this thread but I've been following since this started happening to me about 2 or 3 months ago. JLU Sahara with 8.4" Uconnect, mornings where it is below freezing here in north Alabama cause the cutting in and out and no lines on the backup camera. I have a peculiar thing where I will restart everything once I notice the cutting in and out, and if I leave it in accessory mode or park, the audio sounds fine. It's only when I shift into drive that everything goes bad. My issue really appears to be temperature dependent even though others' aren't. This has only occurred when the temps get below about 30 or 32 and it happens consistently at those temps. I have tried taking it to a dealer but they couldn't replicate it at the time (not cold enough at the time of the appointment) so they sent me away with nothing even after I pointed them to these threads. I just wanna listen to music on my way to work in the morning, regardless of temperature.

Just got back from my dealer. I have the cutting on and off problem and also the left speaker/vibration problem they could find neither problem. When I picked up the vehicle one of the managers came out to the Jeep and I reproduced the vibration with talk radio. Not sure they even investigated either problem although it took all day. Not a happy customer currently

Yep same experience with my dealer too. I think it happens more often when its cold but inconsistent and didn't occur other morning when it was in the 20s but happened later in the day when in the 30s.

My 2018 JLU Sahara is at the dealer now. I mentioned the TSB and all of the other things I've noticed on the audio system cutting out. Service manager said they are aware that there are problems, they had another 2018 in yesterday where the owner was having problems with plugging in his android phone and mapping. So, we'll see what the verdict is. At least the dealers are aware of the problems.

Jeep stays overnight at the dealership. Dealer says something to the effect that the audio system serial numbers do not match-up with the build sheet, so they have to figure this out with Jeep tech support. Dealer is decent about this and I have a no-cost loaner so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Well as many know this problem started on my JLUR the second day I had it. Used to be that pulling Fuse 97 would get me a good 2 weeks with out issue but recently I have had to pull the fuse multiple times a day which is obviously getting frustrating. I have lots of videos of the issue but just haven’t wanted to waste my time yet at the dealership cause there really hasn’t been a definitive answer on the exact cause nor a solution.

I just hope as more and more people join this post this will get escalated to the higher ups of Jeep.

I get so excited every time I get an alert about a new post on the two main threads in this forum... hoping someone has discovered the solution.

Wrangler stayed overnight. The dealer tech told me yesterday that he has been on the phone with Jeep techs, and they are aware of the problems for probably the past 6 months. I sent them a video of what I have been experiencing and that should help. Sounds like they are going to plug in a recorder to be able to electronically document what is happening when the system acts up again. Very impressed with the dealer service department here in Minnesota, and free loaner whenever the Jeep is in for service.

Keep us updated on how it all turns out, Brent. I'm starting the whole troubleshooting w/ the same issues right now with my dealership. My dealership is currently waiting for the new radio to arrive so I can set up a service date to install, but from what I gather, that may not even fix the issue. Quite frustrating. I really do love the Jeep, I'd hate to give it up due to radio glitches.

Yeh @Bri01 There are numerous people that have received new radios and amps that still have the problem. I am very hesitant on getting a new unit as I know something will get scuffed or dinged... it’s not the easiest thing to do. I’m going to be a little more patient in hopes FCA comes up with a true fix soon...

I have had same issue with the radio cutting in and out and the backup lines disappearing since thanksgiving. I do have 8.4in touch screen. My dealership did replace the radio back in December which did not work. They escalated the issue to FCA engineers and they told them to replace the camera. I got the camera replaced on January 17th and my radio has been working since. It has been cold in Chicago for the last week, even below zero and it is still working. Just wanted to let others know what has worked for me so far. Still not sure if it is going to last though.

Hmmm @watupdude1 that is very very interesting... please keep us updated on the success of the new camera.

@eugene and @RIC3BOY what do you think of this fix???
