Thanks Karl and Dealer Guy - Appreciate your input. :like:

Agree, this isn't going to be easy, although for a $20k saving, and also an amazing experience buying an original Jeep from the US, and personally transporting it back, I think it's worth the effort to see if it is possible... Saying that, although I'm glad it's not illegal, at the same time I don't want to be putting the dealership selling me the vehicle in a difficult position either.

Perhaps a more interesting question, is at what point does a vehicle become "used".

Lets say I were to buy the Jeep in Central USA (e.g.Dallas, Texas), and do a road trip to drive the car to New York, and made a holiday out of it. I would probably be clocking up something like 1000-2000 miles on the car.
Technically then the car would be "used", so I don't see why I couldn't then ship the car to my house in Spain, and drive it there for my own personal use... Surely, as long as I am not trying to rip-off Jeep, by exporting it to sell it to someone for a profit (which I am absolutely not), then I don't see the problem?

In terms of differences for use on Euro roads, the adjustments are actually pretty minor, from the research I've done so far (e.g. Possible small change to the headlights). Also, there are several companies that provide shipping services, but also deal with paperwork and vehicle adjustments on arrival.

Thoughts welcome.
"used" has to do with previous registered owners not amount of miles. A dealer could put 5,000 miles on a car it could still be a "new" vehicle.

Hi JLWF Dealer Guy, quick question...ordered a JLR - Granite Crystal on 12/13/17. On average how long till a VON & VIN # assigned? Also status “D” and other letters mentioned on other members invoices...unsure of meaning. This is my 1st factory ordered new truck in 30 years !
Some people have been getting the VIN fairly quick. With JL though the tracking process hasn’t been very on point. I got a VIN in a week. I ordered 10/28 so just having a VIN is meaningless if your build has been sitting in D1 for 5-6 weeks. Be prepared to wait a while.

We were discussing what the reg's governing the import of vehicles into the EU classified as "used", not what US sale/resale reg's are.

It is not just about EU import rules, there are U.S. export rules that also have to be followed. Even if the EU says no worries, you still have to get it out of the country and a large box with a stamp and custom label that states cookies won't do the trick.

I placed my order back in the beginning of November with my dealer. My order has not been picked up yet, nor has it received a VIN. The dealer told me yesterday that production does not start until January 19th? I thought it started last month? I mentioned that ACE had just posted pics this week of received theirs, but the dealer said likely that they received theirs because they work with Jeep directly. He ran a "Bailment pool" search and claims that not a single JL is currently in transit to a dealer. Can any dealers here confirm this and also the "production" start date referenced? Thanks in advance.

We are all in same boat, I put my order in 10/28. No info coming as far as tracking. The wait is the worst, wish they just had more accurate tracking so people can at least plan their future around the 50+k purchase they are about to jump into...

Hoping to get a JLL
Will I be able to go to my local dealer when they start getting these and just buy one off the lot assuming it has the options I want or will pretty much all the ones they get will be preordered and already sold to someone?

I'm not questioning that. I was responding specifically to your comment regarding what constitutes "used" and in what context it should be considered.

Now that we have official pricing and I've received my updated Order form with pricing, when we will get the official invoice paperwork if we are doing outside of our dealer financing? Sorry, never ordered a vehicle before. I'm going based on the bottom of the form where it says this isn't a official invoice.

ALL pricing coming. You will have to negotiate the finance part with your dealer. Give them a shot. If they can match it, let them. I’m biased of course, but it also expedites the process in most cases if the dealer captures your financing. Otherwise, you may have to wait for your bank to get them funding in house before you get to drive off the lot.

Well the dealer said they'd beat whatever my credit union gave so I figured I needed some for them to beat. I want to have everything finished by the time the truck comes so all I'm doing is picking up the keys and minimal paperwork on pickup day.

Sounds like a strange question but I won't know unless I ask. Can you order a configuration with a color that is marked "late Availability" or do you have to wait until that color is available?
