I bought and tried to install, twice now, the subject skid plate on my 2026 2 door 2.0 turbo, and for the life of me I can't get it to work.

The driver side bracket simply won't connect with the plate, unless I want to use a pry bar and tweak it all together. Watching their install video, it shouldn't be this difficult.

I wrote to Asfir the first time I was having problems asking if the bracket was bent correctly because this is how it ends up on mine,

Big gap between driver bracket and the plate.

The above photo may be more telling, look how close to the oil filter it is.

Now compare that to this screenshot from the video above,

They sent me a second bracket in case the first wasn't made correctly, but they were identical. In any case, I tried again, and again, today to get it together, to no avail.

Has anyone here installed one? What am I missing/doing wrong? I made sure each bracket was where they are supposed to be and overlapping the way they're supposed to be (passenger side outside of the skid, driver side inside the skid). Everything loose, etc, can't get them to mate up.

Could something have changed with 2026 since this skid is labeled for up to 2025? I know I took those crash bars off the frame rails of my Jeep, not sure if they changed something else for the crash rating.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Bought my first new Jerp! :)
Occupation
Bit wrassler
I've got an Artec and it was a PITA to get too all the bolts but it tucks up nicely.

Hard say for sure from pictures, as long as all the bolts are little loose I'd prybar it over and put the bolts in, then torque it all down and keep an eye on clearances.

EDIT: Forgot to say that I removed that large hanging steel hunk o junk from under my Jeep during first or second week of ownership and that has nothing to do with this.

Maybe something changed on the Jeep. Iirc, these mount up by or in the motor mounts right? Some angles may have changed up there. I’d look but I don’t have that Jeep anymore. My 19 4dr 2.0 was pretty straight forward.
